Electric Avenue

Neon was a huge trend for Spring 2011 - but because I grew up in the 80's/90's, I was very hesitant to try it out.  However, I did finally cave & buy a few bright pieces to add a dash of color to my wardrobe.  As we look towards fall (yes, it will be here before you know it!), I am anxious to mix these eye-popping accessories with the heavy neutrals that autumn & winter bring...to help ease myself into the colder season (example seen on the Fall 2011 runways here).

Still on the fence?  Try picking just one of the options below & pair it with white, dove gray or nude for a chic contrast.  My budget-friendly picks to help you get your feet wet:

I had to laugh at your being hesitant to go for the neon because you grew up in the 80's/90's. I haven't tried trends from this time period for the same reason. There just hasn't been enough time and I now regret throwing any of that stuff away. I feel like my mom when she talks about styles coming back from her generation. We're not really that old, right?

I am in total agreement about growing up in the 80s/90s and not trying neon because of that reason! I remember neon nail polish back then too! I am slowly warming up, as you've seen in my more recent posts. I was feeling the same about flares/bell bottoms, but have given in and had to buy new ones because I got rid of all mine! Guess it's one of those things you learn as you get older - save the items!
