Transition Time

Although it is September now, the cold weather hasn't completely arrived yet (for most of us).  So, why pack away all of your summer clothes?  Here are some ideas for how to transition into fall mixing old pieces with new fall favorites.  I tried to put together 3 different looks - classic, bohemian & there's something for everyone, no matter what your personal style:

1) Midi & Maxi Skirts
You've been wearing them all summer with tees & tanks; now pair them with a lightweight knit & lace-up booties for a cozy fall look. (Tip: make sure you tuck in the sweater or wear a cropped version & belt the skirt so your shape isn't completely lost).

2) White Denim
This classic summer staple will look just as crisp with layered pieces on top & rich cognac boots to ground the stark white...proving once & for all that you can wear it after Labor Day!

3) Dressy Shorts
Make your shorts wearable this time of year by adding your favorite color tights and a chunky cable-knit sweater for a warm & stylish solution.

LOVE all three of these! Especially the first one. I have a pleated skirt I can't wait to pair with a sweater. I had 'lost' it for awhile, including all of fall last year and have been wanting to pair it with a sweater and tights, so I am READY!

I'm still planning on wearing my maxi skirts in the winter, I shall put thick tights on underneath and brave it. Love the maxi suggestion here.

Can you please let me know where these boots are from?
I've been trying to find a pair just like these, but haven't been able to.

Thank you!

Hi Tina, I assume you're referring to the knee-high riding boots? These are Frye and can be found on, but there are plenty of more affordable options at DSW, Aldo & Target that are similar. Hope that helps!

Hi Vermitia,

This skirt was from 2 years ago, but there are similar affordable styles available at Forever 21, Urban Outfitters & American Apparel.
