SPANX Tight-End Tights Winners

This giveaway is so fun because I get to announce 4 winners!  So, here they are:

#21: Gina
#10: Adele
#33: Amber (Real Girl Glam)
#23: Lesli

Congratulations to all who won - I loved reading your responses of how you plan to style these gorgeous tights for fall & winter.  Please contact me with your mailing addresses & sizes so we can get your tights sent out to you!  A special thank you to SPANX for sponsoring this giveaway & thanks to everyone who has entered all my giveaways for the month of October...I appreciate you & your support of PPF!

Bold Stripes

I love the idea of mixing prints, but often find that I don't own the right combination of pieces to pull it off.  Sometimes the easiest approach is the simplest - a brightly striped blouse with a graphic clutch provides the perfect subtle contrast.

What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 blouse, trousers & necklace (here), The Limited clutch, Michael Kors watch, Vintage bracelets, LC Lauren Conrad pumps (here), Lips: Maybelline Fifth Ave Fuschia

Heeled Hiker Boots

Have you ever seen an item on clearance and thought, "I need this!"...even if you really don't?  As much as I hate to admit it, I have done this far too often.  Something about those severely marked-down prices entice me and then I end up with pieces that sit in my closet without getting worn.  It happened to me the other day at Target when I saw these boots:
Mossimo Kienan Heeled Hiker Boots – $17.48 (in store on clearance)

I couldn't believe they were so cheap!  I sat there and contemplated forever, but finally decided to buy them & see if I could make them work.  When I got home, I set out to put looks together, using pieces I already owned, that would pair well with these boots.  Here's what I came up with:

Urban Outfitters Holly Readers - $14.00

Mad for Merlot

I can't get enough of this color right now ~ maybe because it is so quintessentially fall or because it's sophisticated & easy to mix with other autumnal hues (try mustard, forest green, camel or charcoal).  These options are all priced below $50, making this the perfect time to add a little merlot to your look.

Forever 21 Faux Crocodile Wallet - $9.50
Dorothy Perkins Knit Vest - £29.00
TopShop Contrast Bow Beret - $20.00
Essie Bordeaux - $8.00
Sole Society Charlotte Pumps - $49.95
ASOS Pleated Front Peg Pant - $35.94
American Apparel Skinny Suede Belt - $34.00
Old Navy Velvet Ballet Flats - $19.94
Blu Bijoux Seven Stone Necklace - $24.00

I'm guest-posting today for Alyson over at The Average Girl's Guide today - pop on over to read about my 5 must-haves of the moment!

Speckled Copper

I have never done a manicure tutorial here on PPF before - I usually leave that sort of thing to the experts (like The Stylish Housewife).  And for those of you who are familiar with her amazing nail skills, let me say (as a disclaimer) that this will not be nearly as impressive.  But, the good part is that it's simple & easy for anyone to recreate...oh, and it's very sparkly!  Here are the details (please excuse my veiny hands):

I used OPI Cheyenne Pepper and Love & Beauty Penny Polish (Rust).

Step 1: After filing & buffing nails, apply your base coat & let dry.  Then apply 2 coats of the OPI polish.

Step 2: Let dry completely (I know it's hard to be patient, but it's important) and then apply 1 coat of the glitter polish.

Step 3: Let dry for 3-5 minutes & apply your topcoat.

The finished product:

It was hard to capture the sparkle of these on camera, but when the light hits the glitter, it's super eye-catching!  If you're not into crazy nails, this would be a great idea for the holidays or for a party when you want something fun & different.  You can also try using the glitter polish just on your ring fingers, as made popular by Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere (here).

Perfectly Plum

One of the items that I kept for myself from the Lucky FABB Conference gift bag were these amazing tights from SPANX.  Not only are they a gorgeous color, but they pull in everything in just the right shapewear & tights combined!  I probably never would have picked out this bright of a shade on my own, but I am loving the pop of color they add to my outfits & it's a nice change to switch out my usual black tights for this pretty plum.

What I'm wearing:
Willi Smith sweater (via TJ Maxx), Old Navy shirt, Merona skirt (here), Forever 21 belt, SPANX tights (here) c/o SPANX from Lucky FABB gift bag, Rosegold booties (here)

The good news for PPF readers?  SPANX has graciously offered to give away not 1, not 2, not 3...but 4 pairs of their Tight-End Tights!  So, four lucky ladies will win and SPANX will send each winner one of their fall colors (selected at random) ~ Platinum, Bistro Green, Blue Jean or Royal Plum:

Steals Under $30

Since I had such a great response making an outfit using all pieces less than $30, I decided to do it again.  This time I chose a bright sweater, layered under a textured vest with a touch of leopard print for a perfectly pulled-together casual look.

NEW Winner for Milk & Honey Shoes

I have never had this happen before, but the person I announced as winning the $100 gift certificate for Milk & Honey Shoes never responded to me.  So, now that 2 weeks has passed, it's time for me to pick a NEW winner!!  Here we go again...

And the winner is: Ashley Brooke!

Congratulations - I will be contacting you shortly to get you your prize!!

Fall Pinspiration

I think just about everyone has now jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon (thanks to my friend, Christina, I learned about it fairly early on).  Since I'm always on the hunt for more outfit ideas, I thought I'd share with you some pictures I found that are perfect for providing a little fall wardrobe inspiration:

Did you notice how I included some pictures of my always-flawless style crush (Olivia Palermo)?  I just couldn't help myself! J

The Twisted Ponytail

I realize that my last hair post was also a ponytail style...which may be giving you clues into my laziness.  But, when I saw this twisted look on the models at the Carven show, I just had to try it.  And who doesn't need a way to make the everyday ponytail a little more chic & interesting?  Here it is...

It is so simple, but somehow looks special at the same time.  And it will work for short or long lengths & straight or curly styles.
How to recreate:

1) Pull your hair back into a low ponytail and secure with a clear or hair-colored elastic.
2) Loosen slightly so you can take the tail of the pony and loop it through the middle of your hair above the elastic (from the top down).  Pull through completely to create the "twist" & tighten up (it's okay for it to look a little messy, as you can see above).
3) Take a 1-inch section of your loose hair from the tail of the pony & wrap around the base to cover your elastic.
4) Secure with a bobby pin or two and spray lightly with flexible-hold hairspray.

SentrySafe 1100 Pink Giveaway

What are your memories worth to you?  What would you do if you suddenly lost your grandmother’s antique locket or your father’s watch or your bronzed baby shoes?  Have you ever thought about what would happen to your most prized possessions if there was a flood or a fire in your home?  Maybe it’s something that has no monetary value, like an old black & white photo or a hand-made ornament…but it means the world to you because of the memories it holds.

This is my last giveaway for the month of October ~ not only is this product tied to a great cause, but it will also protect & preserve all the things that are precious to you.  SentrySafe has partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to create the 1100 Pink Safe.  $1 for every safe purchased will benefit BCRF (up to $25,000).

* You must be a follower of PPF either on Google Friend Connect, RSS, Google +, Facebook, BlogLovin or Twitter AND leave a comment below telling me what you would put inside your pink safe if you win!

You have 6 days to enter - The giveaway will close on October 23rd at 12am EST and I will announce the winner the following day.  Good luck!

La Mer Watch WINNER

And the winner of this gorgeous La Mer leather wrap watch is...

Congratulations ~ send me an email with your address & I will get it sent out to you today.  I hope you love wearing it this fall...and since you're a fellow blogger, I hope you'll show us some pictures of you modeling your fabulous new watch!  For those who didn't win, there is one more giveaway this month coming up on tomorrow that you won't want to miss!

Rise and Shine

I am such a big fan of sequins - what girl doesn't love a little sparkle?  But similar to what I've mentioned before about animal prints - when not done well, they can look very cheap.  Since I've not yet found the perfect sequined blouse, blazer or skirt (which are all on my wish list)...I was thrilled when I came across this scarf at Macy's.  It is the perfect way to add just a little shine to an outfit & it will also look fantastic peeking out from underneath my wool coat this winter.

What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 sweater (here), Anthropologie skirt, INC scarf, H&M belt, BCBG booties (last seen here), Michael Kors watch, Vintage bracelets, Nails: Orly Enchanted Forest

The Two-Toned Eye

Here's a simple way to change up your eye makeup: try alternating colored liners on top & bottom.  It adds more dimension to your look, but in a subtle way.  I also love that you can choose whatever colors you have on hand or prefer.  Take a look at these two different examples on Emmy Rossum & Joanna Garcia:

As you can see, Emmy has a peach/shimmery gray combo (perfect for daytime) while Joanna's is a more sultry charcoal/plum mix (great for a night-out).  Here is the close-up shot for a more detailed view:

To recreate this look, just blend well into the upper & lower lash lines (and don't forget the inner rims, too) - you can either use an eyeshadow with a pointed applicator or an eyeliner pencil.  Apply mascara to complete the look & you're done!  Here's some color combinations that are perfect for fall & products to try:

Merely Mustard

As I've said before, I'm a big fan of the menswear trend.  Combining masculine details (like these tassel heels) with feminine touches (like this sparkling necklace) creates the perfect balance for a preppy fall look.

What I'm wearing:
Mossimo sweater (here), Moda International shirt, Style & Co. jeans, Forever 21 necklace (here) & heels (here), London Fog handbag (gifted via credit for ideeli from Lucky FABB), Nails: Essie Little Brown Dress (here)
