Snip Snip

It seems like every year when spring rolls around, I start thinking about chopping my hair.  Last year, I actually did cut about 4 inches off, but it was still medium-length (think Olivia Palermo).  This year, I'm craving something a bit more drastic.  For years when we lived in the South, I had a short angled bob with bangs...oh, and did I mention I was VERY blonde?  Here's proof (this was me circa 2008):

Who is that girl?!?

It's a long story about how I finally decided to go back to my brunette roots & give up the triple-processing/bleach job (that took 3 hours every 6 weeks at the salon...not to mention the hundreds of dollars).  And, as fun as it was to be a blonde, my hair is 100 times healthier (& thicker) now that I am not damaging it with those chemicals.

So, back to my current situation...with the warmer season heading our way, I am considering cutting my hair short again.  I have weighed the pros and cons and still am not quite sure if I'm ready to take the plunge.  I wouldn't be able to put it up in a high bun or braid it off to the side, like I do so often in the summer...but it would take less time to dry and I'd use less product.  Here are some before & after pictures of celebrities who have chopped their locks...is it just me or do they all look better with shorter hair?!

My hair appointment is set for this Saturday (currently just scheduled a trim, but I have to decide by then).  To cut or not to cut - what do you think?

WOW! Is that really you?? You look so different. What a haircut and color can change. ;-) I think a shorter cut (like Heidi's) would look great on you but please keep your natural color. ;-) xo, Christina

Thanks Christina - and don't worry, I will never be that blonde again! :)

I love the shorter cut! I love your darker hair, it fits you elegant style. I just cut my hair two weeks ago. I feels great, I cant do a high messy bun as well, but it look cute in a messy low bun.

OMG... you're right! They do look better with shorter hair! ...except maybe Heidi Klum. :) Her longer style is just so cute. I have to admit, I've had long hair all my life and went to a short, angled bob after having my son; but alas, I feel I just look better with longer hair. It actually was higher maintenance keeping it short. I have lots of layers with my long hair now though. I can't decide.. your hair is just so beautiful. I'm sure you'd look great with any hair length.

You look absolutely stunning with short hair in that first photo! Since you clearly look fabulous with both short and long hair, I think it's a matter of having the versatility of long hair or the low maintenance of short hair. Either way you can't go wrong!

Wow, that does look like someone else! I think the darker hair is so pretty on you and really shows off your blue eyes. You could pull off long or short hair so go short if that's what you're craving right now. :)

Wow, I can't believe that was you! I tend to be a fan of longer hair, which could be a result of having a bowl cut (it was my decision, and I don't want to talk about it) for a year or so of my life. But you can really rock the short 'do! Can't wait to see what you decide :)

I love that cut on you! I wish I could do it, but it doesn't work with my thick, curly hair. I think it would look amazing with your dark hair - go for it!

I think I love Anne Hathaway's shorter cut the best of all these. I'm usually a fan of going shorter for the summer...it'll always grow back! I just can't stand blow drying my hair for so long when it's 100 degrees outside and having all the crud in it!

I literally had to do a triple take and re-read that it was you in the 1st photo. I LOVE your hair color now vs. blonde. And hum...I am a biased when it comes to long hair but then again, you have one of those faces that look good in any hair cut. Excited to see your new do! :D

Oh my I can't believe that photo is you! You look so different with blonde and short hair! I like the blonde hair but think your eyes pop so much more with darker hair. I really love that cut on you. I agree it's hard to make the decision to cut it off. Regrets when you want to pull it up or curl it but change is always fun and good. I've actually been thinking about cutting mine lately as well- was thinking 5-6 inches. EEK! Can't wait to see what you decide to do after your appointment.

You looked great as a blond, but definitely more sophisticated with your dark hair! I've been growing my hair out for the sole purpose of being able to curl it, so I'm not about to say cut yours - but I do gaze longingly at short haircuts and try to resist the urge to chop!

WOW! Def. think you look better as a brunett:) I think you should go short; you're right all the celebs look awesome after the chop and you would too!

WOW!! I love the darker hair color on you! Whatever you decide to do, keep it long, or go shorter, it will look great. You can carry them both off well judging from the pics!

WOW!!!! i still can not believe that is you! you can definitely pull off both but i agree...your eyes REALLY pop with the darker hair. i would LOVE to go darker but my hair is like 50% grey now so i would have to color it every 3 weeks instead of 6 weeks that i do now. thank gawd my bff does my hair so i can afford it! i also think they all look better with short hair with the exception of heidi klum. my hair is longer that it's ever been right now but i am getting the itch for a cut too! can't wait to see what you decide!

My hair was down past my shoulders and I just chopped off a couple inches and feel 5 pounds lighter! I always feel better with a shorter Spring haircut :)

I cannot get over that it's you. Kind of fun to make such a dramatic change. I've never died my hair, highlighted... nada. I say go for it... these are some gorgeous cuts. Thinking you would look amazing with the Hathaway.

Wow you look so different! I know the feeling! I've been growing my hair out for a while now and feel like I should cut it again!
I say go for it! A change is always good!

I still can't believe that first picture is you! Wow. You look like one my friends from high school in it, but definitely a different look now. I go through stages where I chop my hair off. I really love Anne's short look. I say do what you want to do, but I think you would look great with shorter hair!

I say cut it, I always felt like I could do more with my hair when it was that length...

Give into the snip snip itch! Change is always nice, and it will grow back!

CUT - like the celeb girl in the first picture

Such a hard decision! I like being able to put mine up. I think I would miss that. I had short hair forever and finally have long hair now. However, 5 months after having my 2nd baby, my hair is dull, limp, and won't hold curl. So I guess I can't give any advice because I am so indecisive!

I think you'd looked 'va-va-voomed' with that style and with your natural colour, you'd look just as stunning. Maybe some caramel highlights would give you the 'light' I think you may be looking for. For me, the bob styles just seem to have a more polished and edgy look to them. Have fun making your decision :-)

I always love the shorter angled bob...and this collection totally proves the point! So chic and modern...I say do it! That shot of you is pure gorgeousness!

Wow! You look so different, I never would have known it was you! People say the same thing about me when they see me with brown hair :) I love that first hair cut...I think it would look awesome on you! I know how it is itching for a change, and I think you would pull is off fabulously!

Bravoe Runway said...

I've been thinking the same thing too! I used to have the victoria beckham bob, not the one that was super short in the back but the one after! I say cut it! But keep the colour the same...dye is too harsh!

Lisa said...

I have been having this same quandary myself, only between a bob and growing my hair out (right now, it's medium length). I think you will look fab either way, but maybe a tad more corporate with it short and straight.

Lauren {Stylized Existence} said...

I am going to go against the majority here and say that I love your longer hair and I think you should keep it. I think it's gorgeous and adds a lot to your overall look!

I, too, have been thinking about chopping off my hair. My long hair is quite damaged and my hair needs to "restart". I have been eyeballing Jennifer Aniston's short haircut from last year and I think both you and I have the face shape to pull it off! I also have dark hair, so I think it would look similar on both of us.
I have my appointment next Tuesday...I'm going to do it! You should too!
I'll post my inspiration so you can see what I'm talking about. Hope you decide to do it. Either way, post a pic when you cut it!

Wow is that you! So different - but I like you with your blonde hair you are so lucky that you wear both styles (but boy, what a long time in the salon to maintain it, I had no idea). Normally I love long hair but going by these pictures in the post I am now considering chopping my own off! What did you decide?
