Industrial Garden

Do you ever feel that your personal style can't be classified into one category?  This is certainly true for me - I tend to fluctuate between being drawn towards classic tailored styles and flowy, slightly bohemian pieces.  As John Fairchild (former publisher of Women's Wear Daily) said: "Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma."  In other words, what really matters is staying true to what works for you (& what you love) and not worrying about whether or not you fit into a specific mold.

What I'm wearing:
H&M tee, Allen B skirt (here), Forever 21 belt, BCBG sandals, Candies jacket (similar here or here), Dockers aviators, Bracelets: Banana Republic, Target & Forever 21

LOVE this look and the contrast of the jacket with the skirt!

I love this outfit! Especially the hi-low skirt. Definitely one of my favorite trends this year although I havent found one yet.

I'm the same way on fluctuating my style. I really think it all comes down to my mood. Then there's all of the hypothetical things I would wear if I had somewhere to wear them to. Living in a small town, you wear a skirt and everyone asks "well, what are you so dressed up for?"

this looks so comfy, i love it. i think i'll try a high low skirt, but keep it above the calf or something. hmmmm. and your colors you have going on are perfect. this is a happy outfit, lol

I LOVE this! That skirt is beautiful and I love how you added the tough utilitarian jacket to balance the floral skirt, it's perfect!

I have multiple personalities with my style too. I dress the part and the mood! If I'm running errands - it's all about comfort, if I'm at work it's trendy but business casual. I wear anything from classic to trendy, preppy to chic. That's the fun to dressing up!

Those BCBG sandals would go with everything!

Totally agree with that style mantra. And you look SO pretty - love that floral skirt, especially with the military jacket :)

LOVE this outfit! You look amazing and that photo with you walking away and the skirt blowing in the wind = perfection! And you said you couldn't master that blowing in the wind photo! Love the high/low skirt with the urban feel. You seriously can master and wear any style! And I completely agree with you- stay true to what works for you and what you love.

Great outfit - could you tell me where I can find the BCBG sandals? I've been looking for a pair just like this and can't find anything I like that's reasonably priced.

Thanks!
Corinne

that skirt was made for you! xo

i totally agree...that is one of the hardest questions to answer when people ask how i would describe my style. i will try (almost) anything although i tend to always go back to a boho vibe. i think. love this skirt on you.

Hi Corinne, regarding your question about the sandals...I found these at my BCBG outlet about a year ago. Not sure of the style name, but you could check online (maybe eBay) and see if you get lucky?

What a fabulous look! Your skirt is just sick! Love it :)

Love how you paired a floral, feminine high-low skirt with a more rugged, utilitarian style jacket! Great look! I agree with changing up your look...keeping fashion fun and expecting the unexpected are two of my style mantras :)

Hi! I just found your blog today and love it and love your style! I'm a new, hooked follower. I read a bunch of your posts today and wonder if you recall approximately how much you paid for the necklace you are wearing on Periwinkled on 2/17/12? Trying to track one down. Many thanks!!!

Hi rdelayo - thanks for your sweet comment & for following along with my site! I'm glad to have you as a new reader!! :) As for the necklace you're referring to, I found that on sale at my local J. Crew Factory Outlet - I think it was around $30 (marked down). There's a few on eBay here:

This floral is divine!! Love that you paired it with a military inspired jacket. Great combo, that I would not have thought of!

I love this outfit! Very refreshing! This Makes me want to get this skirt. What size did you get? Also, how tall are you? I am 5'11 and hopefully the skirt will be long enough for me.
Thanks,
Janice :)

You look amazing Kim! The skirt looks fantastic and I love it it's flowing behind you in one of the photos!

Hi Janice, I got a size small, but easily could have gone up to a medium because of the elastic waist skirt. It's the perfect length for me in the back (if I'm wearing heels) and I'm 5'8. Hope that helps! :)

You look beautiful!! Love how you paired the feminine floral skirt with a tougher looking jacket. Perfection! xo

LOVE this outfit! Great pairing of pieces. And I think I have that exact jacket! :)

I love that you took a JCPenney skirt and made it look like a million bucks! So pretty.
