Manicure of the Month

Now that September is finally here, I'm officially putting away my bright polishes and focusing on richer hues for the coming season.  This manicure was inspired by my these gorgeous Tory Burch flats.  If you like this design, you could use any two colors you wanted...although I learned through a little trial & error that creme formulas work best.

To recreate: Apply the lighter color as your base coat first, over the entire nail (one coat is enough, as long as it covers well).  Let dry for 5 minutes.  Then with your darker color, apply in staggered strokes, starting with the shortest and gradually getting longer with each - you should have 4 or 5 scallops across each nail.  Let dry for 5 minutes before applying a clear topcoat.

Products I used:
Sally Hansen Terracotta (similar), Essie Little Brown Dress

Wow, what a great idea, to use a pair of shoes as inspiration for a manicure! I've never thought about this!
But I'm also sure I wouldn't be able to do this manicure, I'm not really good in "two color manicure", it never works when I'm trying it...

Such a lovely post: I like your manicure so much!!
What about following each other? Cosa mi metto???

There is NO way that I would be able to do that and have my nails look 1/2 as good! Awesome job!

Wow, this looks so perfect, but how many tries did it take you?! Haha. I would definitely like to try this one sometime...I needed this 2 days ago when I was looking for a fun manicure that didn't take any special tools. (It's OK...I ended up with bordeaux nails and sparkly tips. It looks pretty cute!)

sooooo cute! Are those flats authentic? I went to the link and was going to buy a pair for myself, but was skeptical about them being replicas. I got screwed on ebay and just escalated a case on a FAKE MK watch I received (I was under the impressions that the watch I was receiving was a lightly used authentic watch...wrong)... ugh.. so don't want to go through anything like this again. These are adorable flats!

Love the mani! Super cute. :) xo.

What a great idea, I love the colour combo, so perfect for fall.
Cute shoes too. Do they run true to size or small?

Great idea and so ready for fall.
I love the shoes too, do they run true to size?

ABSOLUTELY adore this manicure!!!! x

I absolutely love it!

Love the nail! The flats are too cute.

This is my favorite manicure DIY from you to date! I have no idea how to create staggered strokes to result in a scalloped effect but I will definitely try it!

I so need to try this manicure soon. LOVE it and wouldn't have thought to do it.
