Casual Friday

The frequency with which I wear this vest on weekends is somewhat embarrassing.  But it really is the perfect layering piece and adds just the right amount of that rugged laid-back vibe to my look (see the other ways I've worn it here, herehere & here).  And, in my opinion, it never hurts to add some high impact jewelry - though these Capwell Co. pieces are fabulous enough to stand alone, I couldn't resist layering them together for a serious statement.

What I'm wearing:
Simply Vera Vera Wang turtleneck (on sale here), Old Navy vest (similar), Xhilaration skinnies (here or similar here), Merona booties (here), c/o Capwell Co. necklaces (here and here), R&J handbag (here), Dockers aviators (similar), Nails: Essie Berry Naughty

Bejeweled Burgundy

I cannot seem to get enough of this color for fall - especially in the form of a silky blouse with jewel-encrusted details.  Add a metallic belt, wool coat with leather sleeves + a flirty skirt and you are ready for a holiday party or winter date night!  Live someplace where it's not that cold yet?  Try this deep-hued top with a creamy white wide leg trouser, neutral pumps & glittery clutch for a glamorous look that's perfectly festive.

What I'm wearing:

Blue Velvet

I have been searching for the perfect velvet blazer for a long time - though there are lots of options out there this time of year, I really wanted more of a boyfriend vs. shrunken fit...and, of course, it had to be affordable.  So, when my local thrift store was having their Veteran's Day sale, I took my daughter with me for a little thrifting adventure and was lucky enough to find this vintage gem.  Though it's a few sizes too big (will be taking to the tailor soon), it was the perfect color & the longer length I was wanting - for only $3, I couldn't pass it up!

{Love this oversized clutch (that doubles as an iPad case)?  Check back on Monday for an amazing new giveaway!}

What I'm wearing:
Vintage blazer (similar), c/o Pickwick & Weller t-shirt (here), Forever 21 jeans (similar), Mossimo pumps (on sale here), Forever 21 necklace (similar) & bracelet (similar), c/o Koret Handbags clutch (here), Dockers aviators (similar), Nails: Sonia Kashuk Two Cent

Black Friday Purchases

If you were following me on Twitter & Instagram, you know that I (along with my best friend) chose to brave the crowds on Black Friday, starting at midnight when the mall opened.  While I didn't find the big ticket items I was searching for (flat riding boots & a leather moto jacket), I did still walk away with some great deals.  Since I had some birthday money to spend, I decided to splurge on a few items I've been wanting for a while (like the plaid shirt and cargo jacket).  Also, this contrast sleeve blazer wasn't on sale, but was so similar to the J. Crew version I'd been stalking...plus the fit/quality was perfect & I know I can wear it well into the spring, so I didn't mind the price.

LOFT Knit Drape Open-Front Jacket - $32.49 (50% off - sold out online; check your local store)
J. Crew Perfect Shirt in Black Watch - $51.00 (25% off using code COLOR25)
NY & Company Sequin-Trim Wrap Skirt - $28.47 (50% off in store)
The Limited Striped Cable Sweater - $27.45 (50% off in store)
American Eagle Military Jacket - $44.97  (50% off in store)

2 Ways to Wear: Peplum

Today I have a collaboration post to share with you that I am doing with the sweet & adorable Megan from For All Things Lovely.  We first met when we were featured side-by-side in the November issue of Lucky Magazine (here). And since we both have a penchant for peplum & loved this top, we thought it would be fun to show 2 different ways to style it.  Ironically, we both ended up wearing it with skinny jeans, but I think it would also be great with a pencil or flared skirt + sparkly heels for a holiday party.
Be sure to visit For All Things Lovely to see more photos of Megan's look & all her outfit details!

H&M blazer (similar), ASOS top (on sale here; in petite here & plus size here), Levi's jeans (on sale here), Charles Jourdan pumps (on sale here), Mango bag (similar), c/o Outrage Fashion necklace (here) and bracelet (here), Mudd sunnies (similar), Nails: OPI Nein!, Nein!, Nein!, Ok Fine! + Essie Luxe Effects Set In Stones

Thankful

I couldn't let this day pass by without acknowledging the things that I am thankful for.  In addition to my amazing family in Oregon (who I miss so much!), my beautiful children (who keep me laughing) & my wonderful home in New York...I am also incredibly grateful for the friendships that I've made with so many of you - fellow bloggers who I know I will have in my life forever and readers all over the world who I get to connect with on a daily basis.  The way you have supported my site, shared this blog with your friends, challenged & encouraged me is such a gift...and one I will never take for granted.

With two of my besties, Jenn & Tiffany (the only one missing here is Alyson!), at Lucky FABB West 2012

PPF would not even exist if it weren't for my biggest fan, photographer & marketing consultant.  My husband has truly been my partner in building this business and I owe him way more than I could ever repay.  He has stood by me through the failures & triumphs, been patient when the blog has demanded more of my time and cheerfully taken over the household duties & kids' schedules while I'm traveling.  When I count my blessings, this man is always at the top of my list.

At Disneyland last summer - if we look tired here, it's because we were waiting in line for 4 hours to get on a ride!

The truth is, I'm thankful every single day but I wanted to take the opportunity on this holiday to say just how much I appreciate you all.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Emerald City

This deep shade of green is my latest obsession - probably due to the fact that I had nothing this color in my closet, until I found this blazer.  Since it arrived, I've had a hard time finding pieces it doesn't go with - it looks fresh paired with mint skinny jeans, takes on a luxe vibe when put with other jewel tones and is completely modern with black & white prints, like these fun polka dot pants.

What I'm wearing:
c/o Sheinside blazer (here), Forever 21 sweater (similar), Worthington pants (on sale here - runs small; recommend sizing up), c/o DMSX pumps (here), c/o Angela + Roi bag (here), c/o Capwell Co. necklace (here), Vintage bracelet, Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Adore

Making Varsity

Part of me was really drawn to the trend of varsity-style jackets, but I wanted to find a version that looked slightly more sophisticated.  So I couldn't pass up the opportunity when I found this one in my size on the clearance rack (+ an extra 30% off).  The bracelet length sleeves and modern colorblocking were exactly what I was looking for.  And since I wanted to let the pieces speak for themselves, I felt that minimal jewelry was best - these stacking rings from Stella & Dot, which I've been wearing nonstop lately, were the perfect dainty & subtle choice.  Check out their other affordable pieces (great Christmas gift ideas) all under $50 here.

What I'm wearing:
The Limited jacket (sold out online; check your local stores - similar save or splurge), Joseph A turtleneck (here), Worthington skirt (on sale here), Aldo booties (similar save or splurge), Zara bag (here), c/o Caravelle by Bulova watch (here), c/o Poshlocket bracelets (here), c/o Stella + Dot rings (here), Dockers aviators (similar), Lips: L'Oreal Colour Riche Fairest Nude, Nails: OPI German-icure

Black & Blue

Ever since I put together this monochromatic outfit, I have been experimenting with more matchy-matchy looks and I've decided I really love the sophisticated vibe of a same-color blazer & trouser.  This time, I added a faux fur vest for an extra layer of warmth and to keep the suit-like separates from feeling too stuffy...plus I'm obsessed with the cobalt + black combination.

What I'm wearing:
J. Crew blouse (on sale here), c/o The Impeccable Pig blazer (here), M.S.S.P. vest (via eBay; similar), LOFT trousers (similar), JW Anderson for ALDO pumps (on sale here), ALDO clutch (on sale here), Bracelets: Vintage & J. Crew Factory (on sale here), Target earrings (similar), Ray-Ban wayfarers (similar), Nails: Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama, Lips: L'Oreal Colour Riche Blushing Berry
