Bundled Up

As much as I hate to admit it, winter is finally here...and from what they are saying, it isn't going to be a short one. Get ready to see snowy backgrounds for the next few months + me layering like crazy in an attempt to stay warm! This particular day looked promising thanks to the glimpses of sunshine through the clouds...however when we got outside, there were 20 mph winds, which made taking pictures challenging (to say the least).  I certainly hope this isn't an indication of how the rest of the season will be.  If you live somewhere that has hard winters, I'd love to hear your tips for keeping cozy & chic in the comments below!

Classically Caped

A cape has been on my mental wish list for quite some time.  But I had yet to find a style that I really loved and that I felt was both versatile & practical...until I came across this one, which met all of my requirements and more.  Because of the trench-like details and the neutral camel color, it's the perfect blend of classic & modern - I also love the detachable belt, which helps give a defined silhouette to what is typically a more voluminous piece.

What I'm wearing:
Ann Taylor sweater (on sale here), c/o SheInside cape coat (here), Gap jeans (on sale here), ShoeDazzle loafers (here), ALDO satchel (similar here or here), Express bracelet (similar), Dockers aviators (similar), Nails: Sally Hansen Right Said Red

Holiday Red

This is my last post featuring holiday party attire...and it might just be my most favorite yet (see previous looks herehere & here).  Though I try to keep all the items here budget-friendly, I will from time to time feature splurge-worthy pieces that I believe to be worth the investment - and this red dress definitely fits the bill.  It's comfortable, flattering, and I'm so obsessed with the drop waist & full flared skirt that I couldn't stop twirling around in it.  I added this glamorous fur snood & a wool coat to stay warm on a chilly night...and, of course, a dash of sequins is always festive.

I will be taking a break from posting on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day so I can enjoy the holiday with my family. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a special time with loved ones & friends!

What I'm wearing:
c/o Maggie London dress (here), Nine West coat (on sale here), c/o Style by Marina snood (here), Ralph Lauren pumps (via Marshall's; similar on sale here), Zara clutch (here), J. Crew Factory bracelet & earrings, Nails: Sally Hansen White On

Layered Fur

Ever since I wore this (faux) fur vest layered over a blazer (here), it's a combination that has been on regular repeat - especially since our weather is still warm enough to not require a heavy coat (this might be my favorite winter yet!). Admittedly, I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail an embarrassing amount lately (I blame the busyness of the holidays), so I was happy to find this sleek accessory to use on days when I'm craving a more polished look.

What I'm wearing:
Victoria's Secret blouse (here), c/o Chicnova sweater (here), Forever 21 blazer (here), M.S.S.P. vest (via eBay; similar), Levi's jeans (on sale here), Zara bag (here), ALDO booties (similar splurge), c/o Christina M. Boutique necklace (here), gifted Etsy ring (here), Target sunnies (similar), Lips: Maybelline Are You Red-dy

Dear Santa

Since today is pretty much the last day you can order online and still have it arrive in time for Christmas (and because I know how much my husband procrastinates), I've put together a few items that I would love to find under my tree.  Most of these are out of the price range of what I'd normally buy for myself, which makes them the ideal gifts, in my opinion!  In addition to these below, I'm still pining for this Zara bag (maybe if I keep dropping hints, it will eventually appear?)...and would LOVE to try out this gel manicure kit.

Gift Guide: Have to Have

I was recently asked to put together a gift guide for HavetoHave.com and this time I decided to make a list of some of my favorite things that I'd love to receive on Christmas morning.  I've included items in varying price ranges, but everything is under $100!  You can view all my picks by clicking through the interactive game below...so fun!

Checkered State

I just couldn't resist wearing all four of my latest obsessions together in one outfit  (plaid, emerald green, cap-toe pumps & a cocoon coat).  I can't believe that I bought these pants back in October (here) and this is the first time I'm wearing them...the thicker fabric is ideal for those chilly days + the fit is perfection (no tailoring required!).  And I pretty much haven't taken this coat off since I got it - I am absolutely in love with the shape and the gold zipper details.  Unfortunately, once the snowy weather hits, I will have to swap it out for something more substantial...but thanks to the light neutral color, I know I will get tons of wear out of it again in the spring.

What I'm wearing:
Fenn Wright Mason sweater (via Marshall's; similar splurge or save), Worthington pants (on sale here), c/o Warehouse coat, Chinese Laundry pumps (here), The Limited tote (similar splurge), Vintage earrings (similar), Lips: L'Oreal Colour Riche Fairest Nude, Nails: Revlon Rain Forest

Seasonal Layering

As the days inch closer & closer to Christmas, I'm finding myself running out of time to get things done before the holiday. With cookies to bake, presents to wrap & parties to attend, I don't have hours to sit in my closet trying on clothes & deciding what to wear.  So, I'm doing the work ahead of time to help myself out (and maybe you too). I've put together three outfits for different occasions that show my favorite ways to layer for the season.  And since money can be tight this time of year with all that gift-buying, everything you see below is under $65!
