Mini Getaway

With my mom in town & my husband just back from a long business trip, we decided to take advantage of the (free) in-house babysitting and getaway for a couple of nights.  Since Niagara Falls is just a short drive & we'd never visited together, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  Unfortunately, the single-digit temperatures forced us to stay inside most of our first day, but we did manage to snap a few pictures before running back to the warmth of our hotel room.  So if I look cold in these photos, it's because I was!

What I'm wearing:
Old Navy sweater (similar here or here), Forever 21 coat (similar toggle-style, double-breasted or pea coat), Vintage stole (similar save or splurge), Levi's jeans (on sale here), H&M boots (similar here or here) & gloves (similar), Ann Taylor hat (on sale here), The Limited tote (similar), Simply Vera Vera Wang Aviators (similar)

Here is what I am loving about your style (I just found your blog over the weekend, so I am a new reader): you consistently put together outfits that look like they are made with high end pieces, even though you have a mix of truly affordable pieces thrown in. This outfit is the perfect example- you look like a million bucks, and I would never have guessed that was a Forever 21 coat! ~Lori

I seriously can't believe the fur wasn't part of the coat to begin with! I love that it's vintage and that you played off the tones of the fur with your boots. Cute!

Love everything about this look - especially the vintage stole! I have a similar one from my grandmother, so this reminds me that I need to put it to use more often :)

And so glad you were able to get a few days away with the hubby. Sounds like a great mini vaca!

Gorgeous! I love the idea of adding a fur stole to a wool coat. Do you pin it on somehow or just wrap it around and hope it stays?

Hi Erin,

I actually just used large safety pins secured to the underneath side of the jacket's lapels and the stole has small loops on it that you can thread through!

When I read that you live "close" to Niagara Falls, I had to do a little research (in the least-creepy way possible, I promise!) and you ARE from Roch! I love that someone as stylish as you is from my hometown. I'm an even bigger fan now! Love from a Webster girl :)

I really enjoyed your instagram photos from this trip and this outfit here seems perfect for the cold weather. I'm living in my hats in the UK right now because we have snow and rain and cold wind all over the place! Stylish and warm is so difficult I find - you do it so well!
