A Good Sport

Now that school is officially out for summer & the days involve a lot more running around with my kids, it's important for me to be comfortable but still look pulled together.  So I decided to give this "sporty" trend a try - it's a fun mix of preppy & polished, but still casual & practical for my lifestyle.  I honestly never would have thought to wear sneakers with a pencil skirt - but thanks to the fun print on this one, it works as well with dressed-down basics as it does with ankle-strap heels & white blazer for evening.  And this baseball cap is the perfect solution for those too-humid days when my naturally curly hair just won't relax.  What are your thoughts on this sporty trend - have you tried it yet or will you be?  Weigh in below in the comments!

What I'm wearing:
c/o Old Navy t-shirt (on sale here), TinselTown Denim Couture jacket (similar here or here), Helene Berman skirt (here), Xhilaration hat (here), Keds sneakers (on sale here), Pulicati tote (similar), Forever 21 necklace (here), Bracelets: Vintage, c/o Stella & Dot (here) & Gap (similar here or here)

I just love, love, love this look! I was actually trying on some sneakers today, and I just felt so awkward in them! I do love the sneaker look though, so I will not give up- I will find a pair of sneakers that are girly enough for me to wear! :)

I wear baseball caps all the time but usually its when I have no makeup on and am trying to hide my messy hair...lol. And I made fun of my girlfriend when she bought superga's...but of course now I want them. =)

Love this cute casual look. That skirt is perfect with the tee & denim jacket. And the cons and hat look great. I think I need to invest in some cute caps for the humid, bad hair days you speak of!

I'd kill for hair that stayed somewhat full in the heat! Mine is straight and thin and becomes even more limp when it's humid. I'm all about the ponytail in the summer!

Such a lovey stack of bracelets!

Great casual and stylish look on you. You are ready for the weekend.

If you get a sec, check out my latest post 'Parisian Pop'. Also I tried a new technique with my photo using Photoshop. I would love to read what you think.

Happy Friday!

This is so cute! I never even considered wearing sneakers period. Mine are just some ugly new balance shoes that I wear to workout in. I saw some really cute ones at Zara though!

I'm a fan of the sporty look on you! You really pull it off. Personally I'd skip the baseball cap because it's just not me, but I like it on you.

So I have been reading fashion blogs for awhile now but I only read the content I never read the comments..... Until today. And now I see why! It is all other bloggers praising "How cute" your outfit is and linking to their own blog. How boring. Can you not critique an outfit or say you do not like parts of it without being labeled a hater? For me that baseball cap is the equivalent of "mom jeans" for that outfit. Major cute look with the exception of that hat, it makes you look dorky, sorry. There are other solutions for humid weather hair like braids or a topknot.

Julie said...

Wow, thanks for this! You never see style bloggers in reasonable shoes, and yet there are definitely times when reasonable shoes are a necessity. You make it look very chic!

Kimberly said...

Hi Katharine,

Thank you for your honest feedback! I definitely want my readers to feel free to speak their mind and I completely understand that not everyone is going to love every outfit. I agree that the baseball cap trend may not be for everyone and that's okay. It was just fun for me to give it a try! Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment :)

Oh my gosh, Kim....just too adorable. I'm loving this look for so many reasons. The jacquard skirt paired with the otherwise easy pieces, the denim jacket - always a go-to classic, the free spirited baseball cap and, the contrast of sweet arm candy and cute casual sneakers along with the pink and blue hues. So perfectly pulled together...great job as always!
