This is our final giveaway for the month and I've saved the best for last!  You may remember when I introduced you to Ebates in this post - in case you missed it or are not yet a member, here's a quick synopsis of how their site works:

Daytime Sequins

Mini Getaway

 

With my mom in town & my husband just back from a long business trip, we decided to take advantage of the (free) in-house babysitting and getaway for a couple of nights.  Since Niagara Falls is just a short drive & we'd never visited together, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  Unfortunately, the single-digit temperatures forced us to stay inside most of our first day, but we did manage to snap a few pictures before running back to the warmth of our hotel room.  So if I look cold in these photos, it's because I was!

Spring Fever

Red Alert

For the most part, I have no problem putting outfits together quickly - but for some reason, when it comes to dressing for church, I struggle every single Sunday.  I want to look stylish & polished, dressed up but not over-the-top...while still staying true to my own personal taste.  This particular outfit seemed to be the perfect compromise - I'm still wearing trendy pieces (bright trousers + printed peplum), but the overall look is simple (just one statement accessory) & sophisticated.  Maybe those of you who work in a conservative office environment can relate?  If so, I'd love to hear your solutions & favorite outfit combinations in the comments below.

Earth Tones

Since November, when my husband started working from home, we began a weekly tradition of coffee dates together on Wednesday mornings - after we drop the kids off at school, we drive into the city to our favorite little cafe and spend time just the two of us.  Sometimes I find myself looking forward to the middle of the week even more than the weekend because that alone time is so rare & special.  I wore this outfit on our date last week - I still can't get enough of plaid & this mix of rich earth tones felt right for the chilly (but snow-free!) weather.

Since I had an overwhelming response from readers after this post requesting more layered looks for the office, I have decided to try & incorporate some work-appropriate outfits here on a regular basis.  This is one of my new favorite ways to get more wear out of my sleeveless peplum tops during the colder months - just treat it like a vest & pair with a button-down blouse or turtleneck underneath (looks great with cropped trousers or skinny jeans too)!

Color Pop

I recently decided that I need to make a more concerted effort to inject color into my winter wardrobe.  But since most of my bright pieces are in summery fabrics, it has been a little challenging.  Thankfully, the weather was so warm over the weekend that I was able to get away with just a few light layers.  This cheery combination of bright hues works because the small pops of color are balanced out with neutral basics...so it creates just the right amount of interest without being overwhelming.

Winter Florals

I had a reader write me last week asking for some creative layering tips for the office.  When I used to work full-time (before I had kids), I remember how unbelievably cold our building was and some days I would end up wearing my wool overcoat at my desk all day in an effort to stay warm.  A better solution by far is this silky blouse + textured sweater + blazer combination - it works equally well with cropped trousers or a skirt & strikes just the right balance between cozy and polished.

Outerwear Essentials
