Spotted in Leather

Sometimes when I'm putting an outfit together, I like to start with the shoes.  Case in point, when these twinkling cap-toed beauties arrived, I knew I wanted to build an outfit around them.  So I started from the bottom up and decided to juxtapose the dressed-up feel of the pumps with my favorite skinny jeans.  And since I loved the design of these shoes so much, I repeated the texture of the sparkling stones + smooth leather by topping it off with a spotted blouse & (faux) peplum top.  It worked so well, I'm starting to think maybe I should begin all my outfit planning this way...

What I'm wearing:
H&M blouse (similar here or here), Tinley Road top (on sale here), c/o Old Navy jeans (in Authentic wash; on sale here), c/o Nina Shoes pumps (on sale here), Merona satchel (here), Michael Kors watch (similar), c/o Stella & Dot bracelet (here), c/o JewelIQ earrings (similar), Forever 21 ring (similar), Simply Vera Vera Wang aviators (similar), Lips: Maybelline ColorSensational Coral Crush

Bold & Bright

This is my 2nd post in the spring trends series with T.J. Maxx and this time it's all about brights!  This particular combination is probably the bravest I've been thus far on the blog when it comes to mixing colors...but I couldn't resist when I found these amazing pieces!  I started with the green top & blue trousers (a pairing I've always been fond of), and when I saw this gorgeous bag at such a great price, I decided to add in one more bright pop of color.  And since these hues make such a strong statement all on their own, I kept the shoes neutral and my jewelry to a minimum.

If you're wary of trying something this bold, start by just mixing a pop of color into an outfit (like a bright bag or fun shoe) - once you do, I promise you will love it & want to incorporate these cheery shades into your closet more.  Nothing elevates your mood faster & you'll be perfectly on-trend for the season!

3 Ways To Wear: Printed Shift

There's nothing as easy as a perfect-fitting shift dress that you can throw on & instantly feel pulled-together.  I was so excited when I found this one because the print is so pretty that it almost doesn't need any accessories, plus it's very similar to much more expensive styles I've seen this season (but for less than $30!).  I decided to feature three different ways to wear it for work, weekend & evening to show the amazing versatility of this piece.  It's no question that I will be getting alot of use out of it in the months to come - I'd love to hear which look is your favorite in the comments below!

What I'm wearing:
c/o Old Navy dress (on sale here - also in tall), c/o The Impeccable Pig blazer (similar here or here), ALDO pumps (on sale here), Banana Republic bag (early Mother's Day gift from my husband; here), c/o T+J Designs cuffs (similar here or here)

Ultra-Violet

One of the hottest colors for spring (according to Pantone's list here) is African Violet.  I previously didn't own a lot of purple in my closet, but have been warming up to it slowly (if these lilac pieces are any indication).  So when I came across these skinnies, I couldn't resist the bright hue + the unbelievably soft finish (literally feel like sweatpants).  And they just happened to go perfectly with my new favorite spring button-down & this gorgeous statement necklace for what I refer to as a "dressed-up tomboy" look.

Ladylike

I am so excited to share the first in a new series of posts featuring spring trends with T.J. Maxx!  Since PPF is all about scoring great deals, this was a dream collaboration.  I personally love shopping at T.J. Maxx because I can find designer pieces for so much less (it also helps that there's a store within 10 miles of my house).  For this first post, the theme was "ladylike" and we were asked to create a head-to-toe look with pieces we found at our local store.  Since I typically gravitate towards more feminine styles, this couldn't have been more perfect for me!

I absolutely fell in love with this fit & flare jersey dress - it's one of those pieces that is so easy to dress up or down + flatters any figure.  And until the warm weather arrives here in New York, a classic trench is a must have for those chilly days.  The piped detailing & colorblocked hem on this one gives it a decidedly springtime feel.  Let's just take a second & discuss the amazing deal I got on this coat - the "compare at" price was over $200 and I bought it for under $80!

Of course, no wardrobe is complete without a simple strappy sandal...a style that is so on-trend right now!  I was thrilled to find this metallic pair because I don't have anything like these in my closet & they literally go with everything.  To finish it off, I added a lightweight scarf (we all know I have an addiction to stripes), a clutch in a contrasting color (how dreamy is this aqua hue?) and the perfect gold buckle bracelet (for an extra dose of shine).

And now for some exciting news...you can submit your own T.J. Maxx Style Scout looks for a chance to win up to a $500 gift card - click here to read the official rules & find out how to enter!!

Recent Purchases

It's funny how I always seem to unintentionally buy items in the same color family.  Last month, I was gravitating towards greens & blues...but for March, my focus has definitely been on crisp whites and light shades of peach/pink.  Even though the weather in NY is not spring-like yet, I am preparing for the new season by updating my wardrobe with a couple pairs of new sandals + some lightweight tops.  In addition to these items below, I also purchased the striped shirt seen here (using the last of a gift card I had) & this jeweled sweatshirt (which is all kinds of amazing).

1) Sabine Vegan Leather Tank (purchased during 20% off sale) // 2) ALDO Ogbomoso Sandals (under $25!)
6) ShoeMint Garbo Heels (50% off your 1st order with code RACHEL50)

Layer It Up

It's no secret that I have a pretty substantial collection of jewelry...but it isn't everyday that I want to wear a bold statement necklace.  So, something I've been doing more of lately is layering different styles together, which is a great way to get more use out of the smaller pieces I own.  These Chloe + Isabel necklaces are perfect for playing around with because they mix & match so easily - they also have beautiful statement pieces (see how I wore one here) and some amazing entrepreneurial opportunities for women too.  Check out my tips below for a fool-proof way to create a layered look using 3 different styles & let me know in the comments how you like to stack up your necklaces!

What I'm wearing:
Gap shirt (here), Zara top (similar), Forever 21 pants (here), J. Crew coat (similar), Me Too flats (similar here or here), c/o Chloe + Isabel necklaces (here, here & here), Merona clutch (similar here or here), Lips: Revlon Super Lustrous Coral Berry, Nails: Essie Splash of Grenadine

Color Play

One of the "style resolutions" I made for myself for 2103 was to embrace more color in my wardrobe...and to be brave about mixing different hues.  I took a chance with this lavender + red + navy combination and was pleasantly surprised by how the shades worked so well together without clashing.  It's definitely inspired me to take more risks with color pairings going forward, instead of always playing it safe.

You may have noticed I've been wearing this bracelet in most of my posts lately (I pretty much never take it off!) - I wanted to share with you a special promotion that Stella & Dot is doing for the month of March.  When you spend $50 shopping my trunk show, you can get 50% off select silver statement jewelry (see the ad in my right sidebar or click here to start shopping)!
