Statement Maker

Since the main mission of my site is finding affordable items that look expensive, I love discovering new stores that offer designer-inspired pieces for less.  So when I came across Statement Boutique, I felt like I'd hit the jackpot.  They have gorgeous statement jewelry for over 50% off what you would normally pay + free shipping on orders over $50!

Some of favorites from their site include the popular fan fringe necklace & the stunning crystal compilation necklace. Even better, they also partner up with flash sale sites to offer their jewelry at the lowest prices possible!  You can get the Crystal Compilation necklace for under $17.99 today on VeryJane.  This amazing tortoise necklace I'm wearing is available at a special lower price now thru 8/31 on VeryJane & on GroopDealz starting this Saturday and thru 9/3.

Statement Boutique is also offering an exclusive discount code for PPF readers on this tortoise necklace I'm wearing - just enter code "PPF" at checkout on their site to get this gorgeous piece for only $19.99!

Note: If you're thinking about layering larger necklaces together, as I did here, but are not sure how to pull it off...I found this post had some great tips.

On My Radar

At the beginning of each new season, I pull my clothes out of storage from the previous year & try to do a thorough editing of my closet.  I sell or donate old pieces that I no longer plan to wear and I try to identify new items that I'd like to purchase - either to fill in gaps in my wardrobe or to try out a new trend.  There are so many fabulous new arrivals out there that it's hard not to impulse shop, but I've narrowed it down to these budget-friendly picks (I may or may not have already ordered a couple of them).  I'd love to hear what's on your wish list for fall or if there's a new trend you've tried lately - let me know in the comments below!

Cobalt Cool

Slouchy trousers are a trend I was quite hesitant to try at first.  But, my mind was changed when they had me try on a pair during my shoot with Lucky Magazine (part 2 coming to the blog soon).  Not only did they have a cool effortless vibe, but they were SO comfortable I didn't want to take them off!  I was thrilled to find this affordable pair with a similar loose fit & lightweight silky feel.  I dressed them up with a bold peplum top, contrasting bright pumps & this gorgeous statement bracelet for happy hour with my girlfriends.

20 Under $20

Though September is right around the corner, the weather in most parts of the country is still quite warm.  But that doesn't mean you can't start incorporating a few fall colors & lightweight layers into your looks.  These pieces are totally wearable now & will be ideal for colder temperatures too (try opaque tights under the shorts/skirt & throw a jacket or blazer on over the tee/sweater).  Not only are these versatile, but also incredibly affordable...ringing in at $20 or less!

Copy Cat

I've been feeling stuck in a style rut (of sorts) lately & have really been trying to push myself to think outside the box. Instead of my usual classic & preppy looks, I find myself being more drawn to modern/unexpected combinations. So when I saw this outfit on Pinterest, I knew I had just the right mix of pieces to recreate it for myself.  I personally love the way the sporty jacket & tee balances out the ladylike pencil skirt without feeling too fussy - and it's just the kind of laid-back cool that I needed to reinspire me with my wardrobe.

Affordable Boots

Last week a reader (hi, Sara!) tweeted me asking for a post on budget-friendly fall boots.  I know how difficult it can be to find a pair that are comfortable, well made to last you all season long and versatile enough to wear with many different looks.  So I've rounded up my favorites and I tried to include as many real leather & suede options as possible, in addition to vegan & synthetic styles.  I focused on the 3 types I think every woman needs...a low-heeled ankle boot, a knee-high boot & high-heeled booties.  Everything you see here is under $100 (many with free shipping!) & just right for the coming season.

Fall Denim Essentials

Since there's just one week left before September begins, it only makes sense to focus on our fall wardrobes from here on out.  So today I'm sharing with you the 3 must-have denim pieces you need for the coming season.  I'll not only explain why you need them, but I'll give styling ideas in addition to how I'm wearing them here.  I'd love to hear your favorites in the comments below & what denim pieces you are loving right now!

1) The Denim Vest
It took me a little while to jump on this bandwagon, but I'm so glad I did!  This is the perfect layering piece for fall - try it over a floral dress with ankle boots for a boho vibe, wear it over a turtleneck with tweed shorts or layer underneath your fall coat with the collar peeking out.

What I'm wearing:
J. Crew top (similar), c/o Old Navy Denim Vest, GapKids coat (similar here or here), Forever 21 Pants
Charles Jourdan Pumps, Zara tote (similar here or here), Michael Kors watch (similar), Bracelets: Vintage & c/o Stella & Dot, ASOS ring (similar), Lips: Marc Jacobs Lip Gel All The Way

2) A Chambray Shirt
I'll be completely honest - I have a serious collection of chambray, but this cut & wash just might be my absolute favorite yet.  Dress up with a leather pencil skirt for a night out, wear under a schoolboy blazer with slim cut trousers for the office or throw on with your favorite jeans (see number 3) for an effortless denim-on-denim look.

What I'm wearing:
Zara jacket (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy Chambray Shirt, The Limited skirt (similar here or here),
c/o JustFab Anais Heels, Zara bag (similar), c/o T+J Designs cuff (similar), Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Cherish

3) Boyfriend Jeans
Consider these your new go-to pair of denim.  Easy to throw on with a sweatshirt or graphic tee for the weekend, but equally cool (& slightly unexpected) with a tailored blazer and classic pumps.  The subtle skinny fit of these ensures they aren't too baggy but still with a relaxed, comfortable, borrowed-from-the-boys feel.

What I'm wearing:
J. Crew blouse (similar here or here), J. Crew Sweater (on sale!), Gap blazer (similar),
c/o Old Navy Boyfriend Jeans, Guess pumps (similar here or here), Danielle Nicole Clutch, Pieces necklace (similar), Lips: Almay Liquid Lip Balm Pink Pout

Change of Seasons

It's always challenging when fall arrivals start rolling into the stores but the weather outside still feels like summer. I'll admit I've fallen prey to constantly looking ahead to the next season, instead of enjoying what's left of the one we're currently in.  But, I feel like this outfit is the best of both worlds - with separates that are lightweight enough to be comfortable on a 80-degree day, but in colors & textures that say autumn is just around the corner.

What I'm wearing:
Madewell top (similar here in pinkwhite or yellow), Vintage skirt (similar here or here), Nine West Panto Flats
c/o Angela & Roi bag (similar), Vintage bracelets (similar here & here), Forever 21 Rings,

Steals Under $30

Even though I'm on a mission to inject more color into my wardrobe, I firmly believe that a well-balanced closet must have plenty of neutrals.  You simply can't go wrong with this color palette, especially as we head into the colder months.  Everything below would be so easy to mix & match with hues you already own - and when the pieces look this chic, but cost so little...it's pretty hard to resist!

Relaxed Chiffon

Anytime I can find a piece of clothing that is as comfortable as it is stylish, I'm immediately sold.  Ever since Marlien posted about this sweater, I have been dreaming about it & quickly added it to my Shelfin hopes of catching it on sale.  But then I came across this near duplicate from Macy's (for much less) - it mixes the tomboy appeal of a sweatshirt with the feminine feel of a blouse...two of my favorite things!  I also love that it's lightweight enough to wear now & will be perfect with a leather jacket thrown on top when the weather gets a little bit cooler.

What I'm wearing:
Maison Jules Sweater, Forever 21 jeans (similar here or here), c/o ShoeMint Heels, Mango bag (similar here or here), Zara earrings (similar save or splurge), Forever 21 bracelets (similar here & here), Simply Vera Vera Wang aviators (similar), Nails: CoverGirl Outlast Non-Stop Stone

Color Me Brave

I have made a decision to stop playing it so safe when it comes to my outfits...particularly as we head into fall. Fashion is meant to be fun, right?!  And what's more joyful than a gorgeous kaleidoscope of colors in rich saturated hues?  Which is why I will be making a concerted effort to push myself a bit outside my comfort zone this coming season - starting with this mustard, teal, camel + oxblood pairing.  I wasn't exaggerating when I said these heels are my new favorites.  Last week, a woman at the mall literally stopped me mid-stride to ask where they were from.  Not one to keep a secret, I shared with her about Sole Society & her eyes lit up when I mentioned the under-$60 price tag.  I think it's safe to say she was pleasantly surprised...and, no doubt, sped home to place her order.

What I'm wearing:
