New York Minute

Words cannot describe how special & memorable our trip was this weekend.  Watching my kids, wide-eyed with wonder, experience the city for the first time, making new memories together & having my whole family there to support me & cheer me on for the Lupus Walk brought me to tears so many different times.  I'm completely overwhelmed with gratitude & I hope we can make this trip an annual tradition.  Here's a few pictures from our quick visit to NYC:

We spent all of Friday afternoon exploring Central Park as a family - the kids didn't want to leave

The Aviators Drumline greeted us bright & early on Saturday morning and helped kick off the Lupus Walk

All smiles, waiting for the event to begin at the U.S.S. Intrepid

Meeting a PPF reader & fellow Lupus sufferer - without a doubt, the cutest pregnant woman I've ever seen

My daughter snuck away and wrote a sweet note for me on the banner

Proudly marching with the LRI team

Me & my sweet boy - we have a strong bond because he also deals with something every day that he cannot control

I couldn't resist joining in a little impromptu dance party after the walk

Group shot at the end of the day

I am so humbled & honored to be involved with an organization that gives 92 cents of every dollar donated directly to scientists who are working to find a cure.  And I was thrilled to hear that the walk this year raised 1 million dollars for Lupus research!  I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the Lupus Research Institute for including me, embracing me & allowing me the opportunity to help give a face and a voice to this disease that affects so many.
