My Monthly Edit

I've decided to start a new monthly series sharing a few of the things that I'm currently loving.  I thought it would be a fun way to get a little more personal here & give a glimpse into my everyday life.  The categories will remain the same, but each month will feature a different combination of lifestyle, fashion & beauty picks.  I would love to hear your feedback & if you'd like to see more of this type of content in the future.  Here is what's on my mind for July:

READING
I had some pretty extensive testing done last month due to a few new symptoms that had surfaced and, when the results came back, I was diagnosed with a second auto-immune disease called Sjögren's Syndrome.  My initial reaction was an overwhelming feeling of defeat, frustration & hopelessness.  But, after processing the news (and having a good cry), I read this article and it gave me a new perspective on my illnesses.  It's a must-read for anyone who is battling health issues.

WEARING
A few weeks ago, while shopping with my daughter, I wandered into Aerie for the first time.  I picked up this bralette to try on and couldn't get over the gorgeous lace detailing & how affordable it was (less than $20!).  I ended up buying two in different colors & have been wearing them ever since.  Anything that's this pretty + comfortable enough to sleep in is a major win in my book.

LOVING
Though I have amassed quite the nail polish collection over the years, I can never resist a new summer hue.  This cheery bright peach is a current favorite and looks equally as good on nails or toes (though I'm sure it would be even better if I had a bit of a tan).

THINKING
I keep making the excuse that because my hair is short, I'm justified in wearing it down all the time.  But, I've realized the truth is that I've gotten stuck in a rut and need to try some new styles.  So, I'm thinking an easy way to start is with a simple half-up look using a sleek accessory like this gold barrette

MAKING
Because I follow a fairly restrictive paleo diet (to help treat my Lupus), I tend to get stuck in a rut of eating the same things day after day.  But my goal for the summer is to try at least one new recipe each week - this orange chicken is at the top of my list to make this weekend.  For those of you who are vegetarian or vegan, this eggplant recipe also looks delicious.

CRAVING
Lace-up flats are a big trend for the season and as much as I love the designer Aquazurra version, they are way out of my budget.  So, when I came across this leather pair (just $70!), I quickly added them to my wish list.  Fingers crossed that they go on sale before my size sells out!
