Fall Preview

Continuing on with yesterday's theme of back-to-school style, I'm giving you a sneak peek at some amazing fall pieces & talking about easy ways to transition your wardrobe into the cooler months ahead.  This time of year can be a bit tricky to dress for because it's not quite chilly enough to really pile on the layers yet, but you want to start embracing those richer colors & prints that the new season brings.  So today I'm sharing with you two of my favorite ways to ease into autumn effortlessly with a few versatile pieces from Old Navy.  Today only they are offering a great online sale - get 20% off your order, 30% off dresses & an extra 30% off clearance styles using code THREEBIE (shipping is free on orders over $50)!

You all know how much I love a good utility jacket and this one is no exception!  It's just the right length (love the cinchable waist & elastic cuff details) & is the ideal topper for pairing with a floral chiffon skirt & booties. Even though this look is decidedly fall-focused, the open-knit top & lightweight skirt makes it work perfectly for our current temperatures.  (Note: if you're not a fan of olive green, this jacket also comes in a go-with-everything tan hue.)

Another way to incorporate autumn-ready pieces into your wardrobe is to have a little fun with print mixing. I tend to wear stripes year-round, so I love the idea of making them seasonally-appropriate by adding accents of fall prints like plaid & leopard.  Normally I wouldn't wear three different patterns in the same outfit, but when you do it in small doses with accessories, it doesn't look overworked.  My tip for foolproof print-mixing is to make sure that the patterns all have at least one color in common (in my case, it was black) - this helps create a more cohesive look & ties them all together.
