Cozy Plaid

I know I'm jumping a bit ahead with today's post in talking about outerwear (sorry again to those of you still experiencing summer-like weather).  There's nothing I love more than living somewhere that truly experiences the four seasons - however, our autumn is usually very short here in New York and, unfortunately, sometimes the snow can start as early as Halloween.  So, needless to say, when outerwear is required from September to April, it's nice to have a few different styles of coats to choose from - especially on those frigid days when that's all people will see of your outfit.

The very first trench coat I ever purchased was from Wilsons Leather when we were living in North Carolina & it's also where I bought my down-filled parka before we moved to New York (which has helped me survive every winter since).  They have a great selection of outerwear & handbags at discounted prices - I'm also loving this suede tote & this plaid cape.  Now is a great time to shop because they are having a huge Cyber Sale & you can get an extra 20% off already marked-down prices!

Even though the coat I'm wearing here is a print, the neutral colors make it easy to pair with soft pastels like pale pink & ice blue or deep fall tones like burgundy & olive.  Plus, the classic pea coat style makes it the perfect choice for wearing with jeans, a-line skirts or cropped ankle pants.  Take a look at the collage below for even more styling ideas.
