Pencils of Promise

I'm honored to be to be sharing with you today about a brand that is committed to giving back & helping those in need around the world.  Soko is a brand that creates beautiful handcrafted jewelry from developing countries & this year they have launched an exclusive holiday collection in partnership with Pencils of Promise. If you haven't heard of them, Pencils of Promise is an organization that increases educational opportunities in countries across the world through school builds & educational programs. The 10-piece collection is handmade by artisans in Kenya using natural & recycled brass. 20% of all revenue from the net sales of this line will be donated to Pencils of Promise to help build schools in Ghana.

This is a cause that's near to my heart because one of my closest friends was born & raised in Ghana - though she & her husband moved to the states to attend medical school, the rest of her family still lives there, including her sister who has two small children.  They had just returned from a visit this summer when we had a chance to reconnect in person (which is rare since they moved to Indiana 4 years ago).  I was saddened to hear the stories she shared with me about what the conditions are like in Ghana and how corrupt their government has become.  There are over 250 million children that lack basic reading & writing skills because they don't have access to regular educational programs.  But, with every piece of Soko x Pencils of Promise jewelry you purchase, you can renew an opportunity for these children.

With the holidays approaching, these pieces would make a beautiful gift because every single item in the line is minimal & wearable enough for everyday.  In addition to what I'm styling here, I'm also crushing on this long necklace & this modern ring.  I personally love being a part of something that helps give back to those in need and I think this collection is the perfect way to shop for some beautiful jewelry that also benefits a worthy cause.  A product in and of itself may not change the world, but it could contribute to build a school that can!  If you're interested in learning more, I've included their video below.

What I'm wearing:
H&M coat (similar), J. Crew Factory sweater, Vila jeans, c/o MIA pumps, ASOS clutch (similar),
c/o Soko x PoP earrings, cuff & ring, Nails: Essie With The Band

In partnership with Soko
The proceeds from this post will be donated to Pencils of Promise
