Winter Prep

Having proper winter gear is essential when you live in upstate NY - and, even though we don't have snow quite yet, its arrival is inevitable.  I want to be able to brave the elements in style while staying warm, but I don't want to spend a fortune on items I'll only use a few months out of the year.  So I was happy to discover these winter boots at Payless - they are fully lined with a soft padded footbed and have good traction on the bottom for trudging through the slush & ice.  I love the designer-inspired lace-up front & faux fur trim on top.  And, most importantly, they are rated to keep your feet warm in temperatures as low as -4ºF.   I decided to break them in on a trip to pick out our Christmas tree last weekend and they were the ideal footwear choice because it was so muddy on the farm.

Because my parents typically come from Oregon to visit us in the winter, I also like to have an extra pair of boots on hand that my mom can borrow for going on hikes or building a snowman with the kids.  Thanks to the budget-friendly price of these boots, I was able to pick up a pair in red for her to use during their visit in January.  Even if you don't live somewhere that requires serious snow gear, Payless has an impressive selection of cute boots in stock for the season including this faux suede stylethese quilted lace-ups & these glossy rain boots.

What I'm wearing:
Old Navy Vest, J. Crew Cashmere Hoodie (similar), c/o Old Navy Plaid ShirtMadewell Jeans
c/o Rugged Outback Surge Faux Fur Boots, c/o Minicci Cable Pom Beanie, Merona Gloves (similar here or here)
