20 Under $20

Once again, I went over 20 items this month because there were so many amazing finds!  And, based on my picks, clearly I'm loving all things blue & white for summer.  I've created six easy outfits for the season that are a mix of casual relaxed looks & dressed-up feminine styles.  It's hard to believe that all the pieces seen here are under $20...but, be sure to act fast because many of these sales are ending soon!

Red, White & Blue

Summer is finally in full-swing & the warm weather is here to stay, so it's time to start thinking about what to wear to those outdoor activities & get-togethers.  With 4th of July right around the corner, I'm planning my patriotic outfits for this weekend's celebrations.  While I’ve always loved a good Americana look, I personally prefer not to take the style too literally...so today I'm sharing how to embrace the holiday in clothes that you can re-wear long after Independence Day.

Old Navy has so many perfectly festive styles that are priced right so you can explore your patriotic side without breaking the bank.  I'm loving their fresh take on summery stripes like this classic shirtdress that's ideal for a picnic in the park & setting off fireworks after the sun goes down.  You can cinch it in at the waist & add espadrille wedges or keep it simple with metallic flat sandals.  Either way, this dress is sure to be a summer favorite thanks to its relaxed shape & comfortable fit.  Bonus: it comes with a removable white slip underneath that you can use for other dresses in your closet!

What I'm wearing:
c/o Old Navy dress (I'm wearing a Small), TinselTown Denim Couture jacket (similar here or here),
Report sandals (similar here or here), c/o Capwell + Co. ear jackets, Similar bracelets,

Headed to a more casual soiree?  This embroidered gauze cami provides a pretty pop of blue against crisp white shorts - I love the tie detail in back & that the straps are adjustable.  Just add some red lipstick + dainty jewelry and you're set for a day at the beach or a backyard BBQ with friends.  I always throw a denim jacket in my bag to layer on top, just in case it gets a little breezy later in the day.

What I'm wearing:
TinselTown Denim Couture jacket (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy cami (I'm wearing an XS),
c/o Old Navy shorts (I'm wearing a size 4), ALDO hat (similar), c/o Old Navy tote (similar),

Weekly Top Ten

This is my last edition of this series for the month (can't believe it's almost July!), so I decided to focus on an online retailer that I just recently discovered.  BooHoo is a brand that started in the UK and has now expanded to the US. They have a great selection of trendy pieces (including Plus & Petite sizing) at affordable price points + today only they are offering 30% off everything using code TREATS (excludes clearance) & free shipping on orders over $40. From my experience, the quality & fit of their garments is similar to what you would find at Forever 21 - there are some great gems to be found & I've rounded up my favorites for you to check out (everything is $35 or less!).

Vacation Moments

We finally made it back to NY last night after our massive 12 day road trip - we traveled across 9 different states & drove over 3200 miles!  It was so much fun to spend time with my family again, celebrate my nephew's wedding & explore new places.  I had planned on sharing snapshots along the way & being more present on social media, but in the end I decided it was far more important to live in the moment & focus on those around me (and I'm so glad I did). But, today I'm happily sharing a few of my favorite moments from the trip so you can get a glimpse into our vacation. Thank you all so much for your support during this time when I was away - everything will be getting back to a regular schedule tomorrow, including a newly updated Sales Alerts Page!

Casual Crochet

When it comes to weekend wear, I typically want to stick with outfits that are as easy as possible.  So, when in doubt, one combination that always works is wearing the same color on top & bottom and then layering a vest or lightweight jacket on top for some added interest.  When wearing a mostly monochrome look like this, I've found that the key is to mix different textures so it's not one dimensional.  This knit top & crochet shorts are both casual and comfortable enough for weekend activities + they provide a nice break from my usual tees & distressed denim.

Silk Shirt Dress

One piece that I think every woman should own is a classic shirt dress.  Whether you choose a silky style that can be dressed up for the office or an crisp cotton, it's such a versatile staple to have in your wardrobe.  I found this one on the clearance rack last month at TJ Maxx and couldn't pass it up - really love the built-in drawstring waist that helps create shape + the easy relaxed fit makes it ideal for almost any occasion.  If you don't already own one, I've included lots of affordable shirt dress options below (including short & long sleeve styles).

Cynthia Rowley dress (similar styles below), J. Crew scarf (similar here or here),
Report sandals (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy bag (similar here or here),

Summer Prints

I received a question a few weeks ago from a reader who asked about outfit ideas to wear while spending time with her kids.  I try my best to feature a good mix of dressed-up, casual & work-appropriate looks here on PPF, however I recognize that many of you are in a different phase of life than I am.  My kids are older and fairly self-sufficient now, but I remember well those toddler years of running around after them.  During that time, my desire for stylish clothes took a backseat to being comfortable.  This pairing is a great compromise - the pieces are lightweight & easy to move around in, while the mixed prints provide just the right amount of interest.

What I'm wearing:
TinselTown Denim Couture jacket (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy top (similar here or here), LOFT skirt
H&M sneakers (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy tote (similar here or here), Zara bracelets (similar),
Vintage ring (similar), J. Crew Factory sunglasses

Anti-Wrinkle Challenge

One of my top skincare concerns as I get older is wrinkles - I remember my mom telling me when I was in my 20's that "it's never too early to start anti-aging treatments"...and how I wished I had listened to her!  As much as I hate to admit it, I've noticed those fine lines have become more noticeable in the last few years.  I try not to obsess about it too much and I have to remind myself that they are a result of lots of laughter & joy that I've experienced in my life. However, I still want to take good care of my skin and make every effort to look & feel my best.  This includes protecting my face from the sun, staying hydrated by drinking lots of water, moisturizing and treating problem areas with care.

When POND'S approached me about taking their Two Week Anti-Wrinkle Challenge, I was eager to give it a shot & see what kind of results I could get after 14 days of using the Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream.  I was a little nervous that my sensitive skin would break out like it has in the past when I've tried rich creams, but this one doesn't feel overly heavy and didn't cause any irritation.  Because it's formulated with alpha hydroxy acids, collagen & vitamin E, it helps renew cells on the surface of your skin & reduce the appearance of wrinkles.  I like that it absorbs quickly into my skin & doesn't feel greasy so I can apply it right before bed without worrying about it soaking into my pillowcase.

I started using it at the end of May and am happy to share that I've seen a significant change in the appearance of dark spots + my fine lines are softer and less pronounced than before.  Though it says to use twice a day, I've only been applying it once at night and have still seen amazing benefits.  Interested in testing it out for yourself and taking the 2-week challenge?  You can use this coupon to get $1 off any POND'S product you purchase (including the Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream).  I'd love to hear about your results once you've tried it!

Little Black Dress

It's no secret that I've become a big fan of the off-the-shoulder trend for summer - I love the effortlessly feminine feel these styles have.  And when it comes in a versatile flowy dress that can double as a beach cover-up, I can't resist! This dress also comes in lime, white & a pretty paisley print but I opted for this classic black that I could also dress up with heels & jewelry for evening.

What I'm wearing:
c/o River Island dress, Soludos espadrilles (similar), c/o Old Navy tote (similar), ALDO hat (similar),
Forever 21 bracelets (here and here), Lips: NARS Roman Holiday
