Mix & Match Travel Style

When we were newly married and took our first trip together, my husband was less than thrilled that I needed 3 separate bags for a 7-day trip (one for shoes, one for cosmetics & one for clothes), but it seemed perfectly reasonable to me at the time.  Since then, I have gotten considerably better at planning my outfits in advance & purposefully packing pieces that I can mix & match to significantly cut down on my luggage.

I know what a challenge it can be to stay stylish while traveling light, so today I'm sharing 5 new looks with you from Gap Factory that are perfect for any summer trips you have planned.  I specifically chose items that I believe are travel essentials that you can rewear multiple ways so you can maximize your vacation wardrobe.  They have dozens of new summer styles in stores & online that are ideal for the coming season & everything I'm showing here today is currently on sale!

I have an embarrassing number of chambray shirts, but several of them are a thicker & somewhat stiff denim.  So this one is great for summer thanks to the soft lyocell fabric & roll-tab sleeves.  I always have a hard time finding shorts that aren't too short and these are the perfect length - I love the lightweight linen blend and even though they're a print, the neutral colors make them incredibly versatile.  These shorts also come in a pretty floral pattern & two solid colors.

Another way I'd style these shorts for vacation is with a lightweight knit - you could pair them with any solid color, but I love the idea of playing with prints and wearing a breton striped sweater on top.  If it's going to be warmer where you're headed, you could try a striped tee or tank instead & bring along a denim jacket for when the sun goes down.

For those cooler days, it's nice to pack a few long sleeved tops & lightweight pants just to be prepared.  These chambray joggers have such a nice drape to them + the fit is perfectly relaxed without being too baggy.  This open-knit cardigan would also be cute with a white tee, denim shorts (or cropped jeans) & sneakers for a casual day look.

Because these pants are so soft & lightweight, they are a great option for transitioning to the beach - I love this idea because it means I don't have to pack a separate cover-up.  I just threw on a white button-down shirt over my bikini - this white shirt would also go nicely with the printed shorts shown above!

I'm more of a separates girl when it comes to traveling, but I always like to bring along at least one nice dress for the evening.  This printed maxi could easily be worn during the day (just add a denim vest & flat sandals), but it also works well for dressed-up dinners with wedges & a straw clutch.
