Floral Flare

I'll be the first to admit that I got into a style rut of sorts this summer - it may have honestly been out of sheer busyness & a lack of time...but now that fall is right around the corner, I'm looking forward to breaking out of the monotony of my usual routine and having some fun with fashion & beauty again.  My hair is finally getting long enough to start playing around with different styles & there's a few new trends I can't wait to try out for the season. This bell-sleeve blouse is one example - it's such a pretty feminine piece with the ruffled neckline, floral print & bright color and it will be just as cute with skinny jeans & booties when the weather cools down a bit.

What I'm wearing:
ASOS Blouse (dress version here), LOFT Camisole, J. Crew Factory Skirt (similar here or here),
Dune London Heels (similar here or here; wedge option here), Banana Republic Bag
J. Crew Factory Earrings (similar here or here), Rings: TJ Maxx (similar) & LC Lauren Conrad

Affordable Fall Handbags

It's that time of year to start thinking about packing away your straw totes & cork clutches and transition over to richly colored bags for the coming season.  When you're hunting for a handbag on a budget, it's important to shop with a discerning eye & pay close attention to details.  My goal is always to find something affordable that looks high end...which can take a little persistence.  Luxe textures like quilting, fringe and embossing with special hardware accents will give bags a more expensive feel.  To help you in your search, I've rounded up the best budget-friendly fall bags in various colors, sizes & styles below - everything you see here is under $80 and some are as low as $25!

SADDLE BAG:  Rust // Black // Navy // Cognac // Croc Embossed
CROSSBODY:  Leopard Print // Burgundy // Cognac // Navy // Black Quilted
HOBO:  Burgundy // Navy // Olive // Black // Brown

Weekly Top Finds

Nordstrom Rack is one of my favorite places to score amazing deals and, now that I'm stocking up my closet for the coming season, I'm on the hunt for fall staples at a great price.  They also carry many brands that I don't normally have access to where I live, so it's the perfect way to find more unique pieces that not many other people will have (like this ruffled cuff blouse & these cutout booties). I've rounded up some of my top affordable picks from their site below (everything under $70).

1) Free People Striped Sweater (also in charcoal stripe) // 2) BNCI by Blanc Noir Field Jacket
3) Catherine Malandrino Over-the-Knee Boots (also in black & grey; another option here)
4) BNCI by Blanc Noir Moto Jacket (comes in 7 colors) // 5) Taylor Crochet Cold-Shoulder Dress
6) Philosophy Cashmere Sweater (also in grey & black) // 7) Susina Kayden Suede Booties (also in black & navy)
8)  Vince Camuto Court Heel Sandal (comes in 8 colors) // 9) Ivanka Trump Lorie Flats (also in nude & pink)
10) Harlowe & Graham Lace Blouse (also in black) // 11) Ro & De Bell Sleeve Blouse (also in olive & coral)

Now & Later

I decided to revive an old series today that so many of you mentioned that you loved.  Today I'm showing you two ways to wear this floral pleated skirt for the current weather & for later in the fall.  The rich color mix & pretty pattern caught my eye and I knew it would be a versatile piece for transitioning into the next season.  I love that it's fully lined and that the pleats lay nicely without adding bulk.  In addition to the examples below, I'd also wear it in the winter with a burgundy sweater, ivory wool coat, black tights & heeled booties.

For the "now" look, I paired the skirt with a ruffled one-shoulder top & lace-up sandals for a flirty date-night feel. Any ivory blouse you already own would work just as well, but make sure you choose a slightly cropped style or tuck in your top to keep proportions in check.  I haven't shopped at Express in a while, but was so impressed with all their new fall arrivals.  Right now you can get $25 off your purchase of $75 or more using code 1604 (through Sunday) - I'm also loving this faux suede skirt, this quilted bag & this cozy knit.

What I'm wearing:
Mango Top (similar here or here), Express Floral Midi Skirt (also in blackivory & red), Dolce Vita Heels
c/o Charming Charlie Clutch, BaubleBar Earrings (similar here or here),
c/o Charming Charlie Ring, BaubleBar Cuff

I love adding a little modern edge to classic feminine styles & a moto jacket is the perfect counterpoint to flowy pleated skirts.  This suede version is from last year, but I've included similar styles below.  I also can't say enough good things about this sweater - I loved the fit so much that I bought it in two colors.  It's unbelievably flattering and an essential layering piece for fall & winter (plus, it's currently on sale!).

What I'm wearing:
Forever 21 Jacket (similar save or splurge; also love this one), Banana Republic Sweater (comes in 11 colors),
Express Floral Midi Skirt (wearing an XS), Sole Society Booties (similar here or here),
Ann Taylor Bag (similar here or here), Stella & Dot Necklace, Gorjana Earrings

Fall Beauty Edit

One of the easiest ways to transition your look into the new season (even if the weather isn't cooperating yet) is to switch up your beauty routine.  This is the time of year that I start to put away my bright pinks and corals and instead reach for neutrals & berry hues.  I typically buy one or two new polishes at the beginning of autumn, but the collections this year are so strong that I purchased a handful of new shades I surprisingly didn't already have in my cabinet.  And I've also been testing out different lip brands that I hadn't tried before and I'm happy to report that I've found some real winners (see more of my favorite fall lipcolors here).  Today I'm sharing some of my top makeup picks for fall - every single one of the items featured below are products that I have personally tried & love!

The OPI Washington D.C. Collection is chock-full of amazing hues, but these four shades are my absolute favorites. There's something for every skin tone - warm taupe, dark olive green, deep berry & rich copper.

For those of you who don't want to invest in a NAKED Palette, these three shades are all you'll need to create pretty everyday & smoky evening eye looks - at under $20, it's an incredible deal!

These are the four colors I use most for fall - warm berry, soft taupe, rich burgundy & brick red.  Every one of these has great staying power, which is high on my list when buying new lip products.

Faux Suede Jacket

Earlier this week, we experienced a significant cool down in our weather - it almost felt like fall!  But I happily embraced the chilly temperatures because it gave me a chance to wear this faux suede jacket.  I love pieces like this because it's still very lightweight, but the color & texture make it autumn-ready.  Because of my autoimmune disease, I tend to get cold very easily and, once I do, it's nearly impossible for me to get my body temperature back up again. So, when we're heading out to a casual dinner with friends, I typically opt for a combination like this one.  While indoors, the light layers help combat potentially aggressive air conditioning and then I can take off the jacket when we head outside for drinks - this sleeveless fringe top is just as chic on its own & super flattering!

What I'm wearing:
c/o Dorothy Perkins Jacket (wearing size 6; also in black), Bar III Fringe Top (wearing a Small; also in black),
c/o Old Navy Jeans, ShoeMint Mules (similar under $50, under $40, under $30), Zara Bag (similar here or here), Vintage Necklace (similar; silver option here), Madewell Earrings, Ring & Cuff (similar),

Lord & Taylor One Day Sale

I don't typically post here on Sunday, so when I do, it's for a very good reason - I'm so excited to share with you about an amazing sale that's happening that you don't want to miss out on!  Lord & Taylor has launched a special online sale for today only -  you can get $20 off your purchase of $160 or more when you use code BONUS + 25% off select dresses!  In anticipation of this great sale, I shopped in store last weekend and put together two transitional fall looks to share with you today.  I appreciate that they always have coupons available, so I didn't have to pay full price for anything!

It's no secret that I love layering, but it's a little too warm still for a chunky knit.  So a sleeveless sweater like this is the ideal solution.  You can wear it on its own now & over shirts & blouses later in the season.  I was so happy to discover these pointed pumps - believe it or not, I didn't already own a classic black pair and these heels are so comfortable + the price is amazing for real leather!  If you need simple nude pumps, these are gorgeous.  Other shoes worth checking out are these black strappy flatsthese suede ankle boots & these chic loafers (also in grey).

What I'm wearing:
c/o Two by Vince Camuto Sleeveless Sweater (wearing an XS),
c/o Two by Vince Camuto Canyon Plaid Shirt (wearing an XS),

Monochrome looks are always a chic way to embrace color and this rich hue is somewhere between burgundy & rust, which just feels quintessentially fall to me. This tie-sleeve blouse (which also comes in ivory) isn't actually designed to be worn off-the-shoulder, but I decided to get a little creative & take advantage of the elastic neckline to give it a more modern feel.  I know I will get a ton of wear out of this faux suede skirt in the coming months - I can't wait to pair it with a cozy turtleneck sweater & heeled ankle boots.

What I'm wearing:

As I browsed through the store, I wandered into the cashmere section & spotted this speckled grey sweater, which is even more gorgeous in person.  I loved how lightweight it is, which will make it perfect for those early fall days when the weather starts to cool a bit (recommend sizing down - I got an XS).  Cashmere knits are something I believe to be worth the investment because you will wear them over and over again - and most of their styles are already marked down!  I also picked up this cargo utility jacket, which will replace my old one that has definitely seen better days.  Other items I tried on & loved were this stunning lace dressthis flowy blouse (also in navy) & this black jacquard dress (also in floral print).  Check out more of my top sale picks below!

Thank you to ShopStyle and Lord & Taylor for kindly sponsoring this post.
All opinions are 100% honest & all items were hand-selected by me.

Weekly Top Finds

I am always drawn to romantic feminine styles, so when I saw that ruffles were a big returning trend, I couldn't wait to find some new pieces to add to my closet.  I think the key to pulling off these frilly accents without looking too girly is to balance them with modern tailored styles and to keep your accessories minimal so it doesn't appear overworked.  Here are a few affordable ruffled picks that I've got my eye on:
