Back To School + A Giveaway

This post is brought to you in partnership with Shoe Carnival.
All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.

Now that it's the middle of August, I'm starting to shift gears & get everything ready for my kids heading back to school.  It's always a bittersweet feeling - even though they are anxious to see their friends again & I know how much they need that structure and routine, part of me dreads how quiet my house will become with them gone during the day.  They love going back-to-school shopping & getting the chance to pick out all their supplies, clothes & shoes.  I'm amazed by how opinionated they are all of a sudden!

We took a family trip to Shoe Carnival (as previously mentioned in this post) to check out their new fall arrivals & select shoes for the school year.  My son's feet grew a full size over the summer, so he was in desperate need of some new footwear and my daughter now wears the same size in women's shoes that I do (though she still wanted to get flats of her own, instead of borrowing mine).  I was so pleased with the wide range of options they had for kids & adults and we got all three of our pairs for a serious steal!

My daughter picked out these comfortable ballet flats that will go with everything from her uniform khakis & skinny jeans to fall dresses & skirts.  She was thrilled to discover that these came in a wide fit (perfect for her foot shape) and that they have a memory foam cushioned footbed, which makes them incredibly comfortable.  These also come in black, cognac & navy - we very well may be going back for another pair because the price is so good!

On her:
Old Navy Denim Jacket, Old Navy Top (similar), Old Navy Skirt (similar), c/o JellyPop Flats

My son almost exclusively wears sneakers (unless I bribe him to wear dress shoes for church) and he already had an athletic pair for sports & gym, but he needed a casual style he could wear with jeans and slacks throughout the fall. As soon as he tried on these canvas sneakers, he didn't want to take them off.  He claimed they were his "cool shoes" because he thought they looked like a style that his older cousins would wear.  I was just happy that he chose something in a darker neutral color that won't show dirt as easily.

On him:
Old Navy Tee (similar here or here), Arizona Thermal Shirt (similar), Gap Pants, c/o Vans Sneakers

While they were trying their shoes on, I couldn't help but take a look for myself too.  I'm very picky about ankle boots because I don't like styles that come up too high on the leg and I don't want something with too round of a toe.  This zippered pair are the ideal color for the season + the shape is just what I was looking for.  And, thanks to the practical heel height & soft cushioning, I can comfortably wear them all day.

What I'm wearing:
Per Se Vest (similar here or here), H&M Top, Old Navy Jeans (similar here or here),
c/o Madden Girl Ankle Boots, Old Navy Bag (similar here or here), ASOS Watch (similar)
