Leather Love

I've been searching for a black leather moto jacket for almost 5 years - I wish that was an exaggeration, but it has truly taken me that long to find one that fit all of my criteria.  I wanted something that was buttery soft leather, that wasn't too cropped (I have a long torso), loose enough that I could layer under & one that didn't have shiny hardware details - simple & sleek was the style I was after. This jacket was an early birthday present that I got and I initially hesitated sharing it here due to the price, but I thought it might be helpful to others who have also been on the hunt or for those who are looking to add one to their wish list for the holidays.

This is one of those investment pieces that won't ever go out of style, that you can wear in almost any season & that will go with so much of what you already own.  However, I've also included less expensive alternatives below for those who are shopping on a budget.  I'm always looking for ways to make my site the best resource it can be, so I've decided that I'm going to start sharing re-working tips for the outfits featured here.  That way, even if the look I'm wearing isn't perfectly in line with your personal style, it will help give you inspiration for more outfit ideas to try. Here are a few of the ways I'd re-work these pieces:

* wear just a sweater & jacket; swap out the jeans for a tweed skirt & swap out tall boots for heeled loafers (would also be cute with the tall boots)
* wear just a striped tee & jacket; add a plaid scarf & swap out tall boots for ankle boots
* swap out a leather jacket for a moto vest or quilted vest & swap out tall boots for sneakers

What I'm wearing:
Lucky Brand Moto Jacket (faux leather option here), Forever 21 Sweater (similar here or here),
BP Striped Tee (similar here or here), c/o Old Navy Jeans (wearing size 4),
c/o Style Charles Boots (also similar here or here; heeled version here),
H&M Bag (similar here or here), c/o Charming Charlie Rings (similar)
