Shoes For Every Occasion

Every year when the holidays roll around, I make a promise to myself that I'm going to slow down a bit and do my best to savor the season as much as possible.  And then, our calendar inevitably starts filling up with parties, school concerts, birthday dinners & outings with friends.  Busy as it may be, there's a reason why they call this the most wonderful time of the year!   I've been sharing outfit posts for more formal evening events, but today I'm talking about what to wear for three different casual activities that most of you will be doing in the next couple weeks.

I'm also excited to be introducing you to a new-to-me website that is an amazing resource for shoes, bags & accessories.  If you've never heard of them before, ShoeBuy is an online store that carries tons of affordably priced brands you're already familiar with.  Right now & through December 8th, they are offering 30% off your purchase with code DECEMBER30 + free shipping on all orders (some restrictions apply). It took me a while to search through their expansive inventory to build these looks, but I'm so happy with the pieces I found & the discounts I uncovered.   Read on below to see the three outfits I created & more of my budget-friendly favorites from their site!

My family is definitely more on the casual side, so we keep things pretty laid-back, even for Christmas dinner.  I usually opt for cozy staples like a cable-knit sweater, my favorite stretchy jeans & ankle boots.  Thanks to the cutout detail, these booties are different from any other pair I own + the neutral color makes them endlessly versatile.  The shape is super-flattering & I like that these have a lower heel, which makes them more wearable for everyday (this block-heel pair is cute too!).

What I'm wearing:
Ann Taylor Sweater, LOFT Shirt, c/o Old Navy Jeans,
Madewell Scarf, c/o Steve Madden Austin Booties, c/o Elliott Lucca Messina Clutch

As I've mentioned before, we're heading home for the holidays this year.  Because it takes a full day of travel to get from New York to Oregon, I want to be as comfortable as possible.  I always bring an oversized wrap with me for the plane ride because I inevitably end up getting cold & it can double as a blanket.  This striped scarf is unbelievably soft & it's the ideal size for traveling.  When it comes to footwear, I've learned my lesson that it's so important to wear something comfortable - these sneakers have great support & cushioning for walking around the airport during a long layover and the metallic finish adds a nice dose of polish to casual basics (also love these slip-ons & this burgundy leather pair).

What I'm wearing:
c/o Old Navy Cardigan, H&M Camisole, c/o Old Navy Jeans, c/o Lole Amalia Scarf
c/o Lacoste Carnaby Sneakers (recommend going down a full size)
Forever 21 Watch, c/o Swissgear Suitcase (similar)

We are a family that loves to be outdoors as much as possible, even in the winter months.  We just pile on some warm layers and go for hikes together through the woods - we don't let a little snow get in our way!  I've long been a fan of duck boots, but the iconic version was a bit out of my budget.  So I was happy to discover this black pair, which is a cool modern take on the classic style at a much more accessible price point.  I also love that I don't have to fuss with the laces - I can just slip them on, zip them up & go.  These are perfect for our long weekend hikes & walking around my parents' farm - check out more of my favorite affordable duck boots here, here & here.

What I'm wearing:
American Rag Coated Parka, SO Sweater, Forever 21 Plaid Shirt
Banana Republic Jeansc/o Sperry Top-Sider Saltwater Duck Boots
c/o Smartwool Striped Gloves, c/o Columbia Catacomb Crest Beanie
