At the beginning of 2017, I did a lot of soul-searching and thought long & hard about what I hoped to achieve in the next 12 months. The answer I came up with was that I didn't want to waste any more time just dreaming about the things I wanted - I decided this would be my year to get out & actually do them. I've started playing piano more regularly, I asked my old mentor to start working with me again and, later this spring, I plan to take classes to become a certified Zumba instructor. This article is a great reminder that dreams don't work unless you do - find those things that you bring you true joy & pursue them...it's never too late to start something new!
One of the first purchases I made after my shopping freeze was these earrings I'd had my eye on during the holidays. Thankfully, my patience paid off - because I'd waited to buy them, they were marked down to a price that better suited my budget. The smaller size makes them perfectly wearable for every day - they also come in gray pearl & white agate, but I'm partial to this cool granite stone. There's a matching pendant necklace & ring (both on sale now).
One of my favorite quotes is "gratitude turns what we have into enough". It can be so easy to get focused on the things we don't have or to lose sight of just how fortunate we are. It's true for all of us - when we get caught up in our disappointments, it can spill into other areas of our life until we find ourselves in a cycle of complaining. So, I love the idea of creating a gratitude journal to keep a healthy perspective - you can make your own or buy one like this with prompts for each day. This is such a great way to keep our focus where it should be & remind ourselves of all that we've been blessed with.
Nothing makes me more excited than the process of swapping out my wardrobe from one season to the next. As much as I love my collection of winter boots, I am anxious to replace them for something a little softer & lighter. These blush loafers are at the top of my wish list for spring - the scalloped detail, tassel accent & slightly pointed toe are exactly what I've been looking for. I'm also eyeing these peep-toe booties, these strappy sandals & these metallic espadrilles.
As someone who has to live with sparse eyebrows, I'm growing more & more intrigued by the idea of microblading. It takes me a solid 10 minutes to fill mine in each morning and I can't help but think about how nice it would be to skip that step in my getting-ready process. I've seen other bloggers who've had this procedure done with truly flawless results, so I've been researching it thoroughly and trying to determine if I'm brave enough to take the plunge. If you've had yours done, I'd love to hear your review of the process below. My current brow routine consists of using this pencil (in soft brown), followed by this setting gel.
I'm fully on board with the embroidery trend for spring & have already begun stalking a few pieces I'd like to add to my closet. Since my personal style isn't particularly bohemian, my plan is to incorporate it in small doses & this chic saddle bag is a great way to start. I like the graphic black & white contrast + it's just the right size for all my essentials. Other embroidery picks I'm loving include these loafers, this blouse, this jacket & this dress.
