Flare jeans are in style and likely will be for a while, considering the massive exodus away from skinny jeans. While I am still holding on to my skinnies, flare jeans are quickly becoming my go-to. They are comfortable and universally flattering. Before skinny jeans were in style, I lived in flare jeans and even went as far as to buying “super flares” from the retailer I worked at in college. Needless to say, I am glad they are back! I had to retrain my brain a little on how to style this wide leg denim. Today I am sharing what I think are the 10 best shoes to wear with flare jeans for 2024.

The jeans I’m wearing in this post are from Walmart! Literally shocked at how good they are. I have seen the price as low as $15 on these, but I would pay triple that. They are so good. These jeans are currently only available in black, which is a great closet staple to have! Shop my footwear picks at the end of this post!
Closed Toe Heels with Flare Jeans
Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Heels and flare jeans are chef’s kiss. The closed toe paired with the flare elongates the leg and is just stunning. This may not be an everyday shoe, but it is perfect for a night out or special event!
Ankle Boots with Flare Jeans
Style Flare Jeans with Low Profile Sneaker
Low profile sneakers are great shoes to wear with flare jeans. I prefer them in plain white because they go with everything. Consider a platform sneaker if your flares are long enough, Sneakers, like these, can be worn throughout the year with everything from jeans to dresses. The best part about flares is that don’t have to worry about the type of socks you wear.

Style Flare Jeans with Trainer Sneakers
Trainer sneakers are great with flare jeans because they often have a higher height than a standard low profile sneaker. New Balance 327 sneakers are my personal favorite. The gray and black neutral color combination are another versatile sneaker I reach for all of the time.
Style Flare Jeans with Chelsea Boots
This is easily my most worn shoe in my wardrobe. I recently did a post on how to style chelsea boots with jeans. They are comfortable, practical, and stylish. As a busy mom, these boots are a must for me! Either a regular sole or lug sole will look great with flare jeans.
Style Flare Jeans with Heeled Sandals
For warmer weather, heeled sandals are an essential pair of shoes to wear with flare jeans. This shoe is great for a slightly elevated casual outfit. These heeled sandals from Amazon are my favorite and come in so many colors.
Loafer Shoes to wear with Flare Jeans
Loafers are timeless, so that means you can definitely wear them with your flare jeans! They work so well with this jean because of the low-profile ankle. These shoes can easily be worn to the office with your favorite business casual jean outfit. The loafer instantly elevates and otherwise casual look.
Flat Sandals with Flare Jeans
Another shoe option for warmer weather, flat sandals can easily be worn with flare jeans. I would recommend sticking to slides with one strap or a criss cross strap. If your jeans are too long, consider a platform sandal
Pointed Toe Flat Shoes with Flare Jeans
Flat shoes with flare jeans are likely to be trending in 2024. Flats made a huge comeback late last year, as did flare jeans. There is something about this combination that is ultra comfortable, yet stylish. Flats are a very flattering and comfortable option to wear with flare jeans. I recommend this shoe most for flares that just slighly skim the ground or are shorter in length.
Platform Shoes With Flare Jeans
Platform shoes and sandals have been TRENDING. It is one trend I can’t seem to grasp, especially for sneakers and boots. I do own one pair of platform sandals so I can show you here what platforms and flare jeans look like. It is a great option for my petite, and trend seeking, readers! I am tall, so I do not reach for these platforms often. With the longer length of these flare jeans, these platforms work really well.
Which Shoes to Avoid with Flare Jeans
If you own a pair of mules, you know. Long pants and mules don’t always mix. Flare jeans and mules might not work if the flares tend to get caught up under your heel. It has the potential to look a bit sloppy. For me, this shoe doesn’t work with flare jeans so I will pick another from the list above when I wear flare jeans.
Don’t get me wrong, heels are an EXCELLENT option with flare jeans. However if the heel is too skinny, this could create a hazard with flare jeans. I personally prefer a thicker, standard, heel type with flares. If your flares are short enough, a skinny heel could work, however the length needs to be just right. For me, its too complicated. I’ll stick to standard heels.
