Below are 15 different pant styles and my recommended shirt pairing. Each of these pants and shirts combinations are styled with the same purse, shoes, and earrings to showcase the versatility of each item.
If you have been following this blog for a while you know we love a simple white sneaker! These are, in my opinion, a timeless wardrobe staple that can be worn with nearly any outfit. You will see below that these look great with everything from sweatpants to dressy trousers.
Straight Ankle Pants + Mockneck Sweater

This pant style is one I reach for the most now that skinny jeans are out of the spotlight. This is truly a versatile pant style and there are countless pants and shirts combinations I could share. For this post, these jeans are paired with a basic mockneck sweater. You could also style these pants with a more fitted sweater, long sleeve t-shirt, or tank top.
Mom Jeans + Strong Shoulder Tank

Mom jeans are another pant style that are slightly relaxed but not baggy. With this style pant you can opt for a fitted or relaxed shirt. If you want to wear layers over your shirt, this jean will allow you to effortlessly layer a rang of styles from puffer vests, to long cardigans, to blazers.
Ultra High Rise Straight Pants + Cropped Sweatshirt

Ultra high-rise pants and shirts combinations require a little bit of effort if you want to achieve a perfectly polished outfit. Shirts that are either tuckable or cropped in length are what I would recommend for high-rise pants. This will avoid any frumpiness and keep your proportions in check.

When styling flare pants I like to wear a shirt that is either super fitted or that has a little bit of shape. With the high rise flare jeans above, a simple short cardigan is a great option as the boxy shape of the top offsets the wide leg opening of the flare pants.
Cropped Wide Leg + Relaxed T-Shirt

Wide leg pants can be paired with a few different shirt styles. I prefer to wear a fitted shirt, a slightly relaxed shirt, or a cropped flowy shirt (if high waisted pants). Wide leg pants aren’t for everyone but I am here to say they are comfortable and not restricting at all as you might feel when wearing tight skinny jeans.
Baggy Jeans + Jacket + T-Shirt

Baggy jeans are trending and the trend will likely pass quickly, however there are two options here for shirt styles. One, a tight fitted shirt that can be tucked in or two, a oversized shirt or jacket. The dual oversized pants and shirts combination will leave you feeling as though you are swimming in fabric, but that is the trend right now!
Skinny Jeans + Button Down Shirt

For those of you still hanging on to their skinny pants, this one is for you! To avoid an outdated look, opt for an oversized shirt. For this outfit, I styled an oversized button down shirt.
Flare Leggings + T-Shirt + Jacket

Flare legging, formerly known as yoga pants, are idea for layered looks. I love wearing just a simple graphic t-shirt with these pants, however I feel that a jean jacket completes the look and makes it look more put together. Other layer options include long cardigans, shackets, bomber jackets, and chambray shirts.
Classic Leggings + Oversized Sweatshirt

With leggings, you can be as casual or as dressy as you need. I personally have created business casual outfits with leggings and love the idea! However, on a typical day I often reach for an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, which is the look styled above. I am wearing this sweatshirt as I type and cannot believe the price. So good!
Jogger Sweat Pants + Fitted T-Shirt

Jogger style pants look great with a slim fitted shirt, as styled above. For extra arm coverage, a jean jacket or bomber style jacket could be added to this outfit!
Linen Pants + Slim Tank Top

Linen pants are a must have for summer. While there are so many ways to style linen in the summer, I chose to keep this outfit simple with a fitted black tank top. Other shirt options are short sleeve button downs, slim fitting cardigan, or a matching linen shirt!
Wide Leg Trouser Pants + Slim Crew Cardigan

With trousers that have a roomy leg, opt for a slim fit shirt. For this outfit i chose a crew neck cardigan.

Much like other slim style pants, these trouser can be styled countless ways. I chose to pair it with a sweater here, but I also think a classic white button down would be nice. For a casual look, a graphic baby t-shirt and jean jacket would be a great option!
