Today I’m continuing my 3 Ways To Wear series – this time I’m focusing on the classic white button down shirt (a short sleeve version that’s perfect for summer!). There are endless options when it comes to this versatile wardrobe staple, but I chose to put together three that are appropriate for the current season & that showcase different styles (one with jeans, one with shorts & one with a skirt). Take a look at the outfits below & let me know which is your favorite!
SOPHISTICATED
The simplest way to add a sophisticated feel to button-downs is to wear them under a tailored jacket, like a tweed jacket, structured blazer or trench coat. For fall, I’d wear this with an cargo/utility jacket and pair with cognac booties. If you’re looking for an affordable pair of jeans that are comfortable, fit great & are well made, definitely check these out! They also come in a darker wash, which would be perfect for fall. I like the slightly raw/frayed hem and that they don’t have any distressing or whiskering. And you can’t beat the price – less than $20!

CLASSIC
Layers don’t have to be reserved for the cold weather months! Find a lightweight striped sweater to wear on top & pair with cut-offs for a casual meets preppy feel. These shorts have a 5″ inseam (which is my preferred length) + a good amount of stretch – nothing is worse than stiff denim! If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect pair, these are under $18 and they ship for free with Amazon Prime.

FEMININE
I love tying my button-down shirts into a knot in front – this is especially great to do with high-waisted pants or skirts because it really accentuates your figure. The best part about this shirt is that there’s a hidden snap in between the two buttons at the bust, so you don’t have to worry about any gaping or pulling – I don’t know why more styles don’t have this…so smart! I also love the unique sleeve shape & that it is super lightweight but not at all sheer, because when it’s hot out, I hate to have to wear a cami underneath my tops.
