My personal favorite is to dress DOWN leather leggings. These are an easy, casual, go-to for evening and weekend attire.

If you’re unsure about this style, realize that stepping out of your comfort zone and trying leather leggings might be worth it! I was super hesitant to try the trend myself but will say that I definitely love them now.
Being dressier than ordinary leggings, the leather (or faux leather) leggings can make you look effortlessly chic or edgy. However, getting it right depends on what top you wear with your faux leather leggings.

In this post I shared my favorite faux leather leggings under $50! Target has a great option that is back in stock again this season. If you are new to the faux leather legging trend, that is a great trial pair and holds up really well.
When it comes to the best faux leather leggings, Spanx offers the most beloved pair of faux leather leggings. They will cost you more, though. Average retail is just under $100. These are often included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and Spanx periodic sales, so keep an eye out for savings. I was also able to snag a pair (NWOT) on Poshmark for under $50! Best Tops to Wear with Leather Leggings
A Graphic Tee
The combination of a graphic top and faux leather leggings is a modern look I love. Bold, colorful tops are a great option.
My personal style is to pair faux leather leggings with neutral colors. The shirt above is nearly black and pairs well with several other colors. Whatever color you choose, graphic shirts are an excellent compliment to leather(ish) pants!
Oversized Sweater
The top I reach for the most in the Fall and Winter months is my oversized striped sweater from Amazon. I ordered one size up from my normal size and it provides jussst enough coverage when wearing with faux leather leggings. If you need more coverage. Wear a long black tee underneath and you are good to go!
Shacket
A shirt jacket. The perfect mix between shirt & jacket and the ultimate for Fall layering. It is safe to say that pairing leather pants with a neutral shacket is a great look. Especially over a simple fitted t-shirt!
You can also finish the look off with a pair of combat booties to add a little edge to the outfit.
Denim Jacket
A simple addition to any outfit, but pairs particularly well with faux leather leggings! Add a plain white tee and white sneakers for an ultra-casual chic look.

Leather on leather… is that ok?? Yes. This will create a super edgy vibe. Perfect for date night or girls night out on the town. This Walmart faux leather jacket is super affordable. It runs slightly oversized.

Long Cardigan

This one is no longer available, but you honestly can’t go wrong with any Abercrombie fleece.

For a cozy holiday or winter outfit, opt for a warm cable knit sweater. It is one of my favorite Amazon finds! It runs oversized, so I stuck with my true size when ordering and love the fit with leggings!
