August is always a strange month to dress for because the weather is still warm, but the new arrivals coming out in stores are very fall-focused. I think the easiest way to bridge the gap is simply to shift your color palette to more earth tones, animal prints & dark florals. Both of these looks I’m sharing with you today are featuring items I’ve recently purchased & wore over the last couple weeks – admittedly, these are more simple pairings, but hopefully this gives you an idea of some easy everyday looks that feel truly transitional.
I’ve been shopping at Nordstrom Rack more lately because I keep finding the most amazing deals! I like that I can use my Nordstrom card for purchases and that returns can be made to my local store + they regularly have flash sales on select brands each month. Right now, there are tons of Nike styles marked down for a limited time – if you need a new pair of sneakers for fall, check out these, these or these.
They also have lots of Madewell options for less – if you’re a fan of the brand, check out these skinny jeans (black option here), this long-sleeve striped tee, this floral print blouse & this denim skirt. And if you’re looking to invest in quality fall footwear (that’s actually comfortable!), I highly recommend these leopard loafers (leather option here), these heeled booties or these tall boots.
Another item I purchased recently are these jeans, which I bought on a whim during a sale. They have a high rise & a cigarette straight leg, which is quickly becoming my new favorite fit. I love that they are off-white, rather than bright white, which I think will be so much easier to wear further into the fall & will pair more seamlessly with autumn hues like mustard, camel, rust & olive.
What I’m wearing:
Bobeau Printed Top (also in green polka dot & black floral), Gap Jeans,
TopShop Heels (more colors here), Similar Bag,
LOFT Earrings, BaubleBar Rings
I’ve talked before about my love for the fit of BlankNYC denim so I ordered this olive pair to wear into the fall. I’d say these run true to size – they are a little snug on me here, but this was the first time I wore them & I can tell they will stretch a little bit. If you’re looking for a more traditional cargo-style pant, try this skinny pair. I also love these high-rise jeans & these crop flares.
How gorgeous are these shell drop earrings?! As soon as I saw them on my friend Alyson, I immediately commented on how pretty they were & then the designer reached out & offered to send me a pair – so sweet! They are super lightweight and add just the right amount of sparkle without feeling too dressy for everyday wear. I love other women entrepreneurs and she has such amazing jewelry in her shop – check out this coin necklace, these hoop earrings, this beaded pendant necklace & these geometric drop earrings. Also, if you’re a teacher or are looking for a teacher gift, this ID lanyard would be perfect!
