Classic Prep

It never fails…the day after my J. Crew catalog arrives in the mail, I have the overwhelming urge simultaneously wear all my bright-colored pieces at the same time.  Does this happen to anyone else?  This outfit was my compromise – still embracing fun colors (teal, hot pink + yellow) and mixing classic preppy pieces, but without going overboard.  I originally planned to wear my hair up in a bun to finish the look, but haven’t quite figured out how to do it with this shorter length yet – would love to hear suggestions if you have them!

What I’m wearing:
J. Crew blouse (similar), H&M sweater (similar here or here), Levi’s jeans (on sale here), ALDO pumps (on sale here), c/o Angela & Roi bag (here), c/o Christina M. Boutique necklace (here), Michael Kors watch (similar)

separate your hair into a top and bottom section. Tease the top section and smooth the hair over the tease so it's smooth and you can't see the tease. Take the underneath section and make your bun as close to the top as you can. secure the top down with bobby pins so it looks like it is all together, bun and tease. It will be a bun with some height and oomph. There's a great tutorial by one of the Glam Fairies on youtube but I don't have the link.
    I love the green sweater!

I just spent a few minutes browsing your blog and I'm in love. You have such an eye for putting together beautifully feminine looks with a modern, trendy twist. And that's very inspiring for me as I'm getting older and want to explore more "mature" fashion. I'm also a stay at home mom too, so that's inspiring as well! 🙂

I was brought to your blog by a retweet on twitter for your post yesterday and I'm glad I clicked through. You have an amazing blog and I can't wait to read more of it! Have a great weekend!

Ohhh, I love the sweater, blouse, and necklace together! I have a very old v-neck sweater in that color from H&M that I just dug out and was wondering what to pair with it – also have a navy striped button-down and a gold link necklace (that I have yet to wear, for some reason!) I've totally been inspired, and I'm looking forward to wearing the outfit next week!
