Who remembers back when the point of fashion blogs was simply to showcase what they wore each day? The blogging industry as a whole has evolved so much since it began. Not only has it become grossly over-saturated, but so many are now using professional photographers, floral arrangements & props for elaborate staged photos. It makes me a little sad to see how far removed all of this is from reality.
And while there certainly is good money to be made for those focusing on aspirational style (and there are plenty of readers who enjoy that type of content), it just isn’t what I want for my site. I want to be real and honest and transparent, even if that means a slower growth pattern.
My friend Kendi recently wrote this post about how her style has changed over the years – I especially loved what she said about embracing her new stage of life and not feeling remorse for the way things have shifted. I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately as I formulate my blog content plan for the year ahead – after listening to your feedback & what you value most, I’d like to get back to sharing more “everyday looks” with you. It’s my goal to keep a better balance between partnering with brands and showing what I’m genuinely wearing during the week.
So, today’s outfit is something that I wore on one of our “warmer” days here in NY (that’s what we call anything over 35 degrees). This cozy pullover was the last thing I purchased before I began my winter shopping freeze and it’s probably the softest thing I own! It also comes in a pretty pastel hue – but you’ll definitely want to size down at least 2 sizes unless you prefer a really loose fit (I’m wearing the XXS here). This would also be cute with casual leggings & slip-on sneakers for a more sporty look.
I personally love this new trend of cozy pullovers and, if I’m being honest, it’s what I reach for on most days when I’m working from home & don’t have anywhere to go during the day. I also have this sherpa one (runs true to size) and if I was shopping right now, I’d be adding this colorblock sweatshirt to my cart! Here is another great option under $35 + it ships for free. Check out more of my comfy everyday favorites below!
