I’m definitely one of those people who feels more motivated to work out if I know I have some cute workout gear to put on. Since the kids started back to school, my husband & I have gotten into a good rhythm of running together three days a week after we drop them off in the mornings. Even though the rest of my workouts are done at home, I still want to have stylish staples in case a neighbor drops by unannounced or I need to make a quick run to the grocery store.
As much as all of my friends swear that Lululemon is the best, I just can’t bring myself to spend that much money on clothes I’m only going to break a sweat in. Thankfully, there are plenty of affordable & seasonally appropriate options so you can update your gym wardrobe without breaking the bank. I’ve always been partial to these compression leggings, but I recently discovered this brand & have been so impressed by both the prices & the quality (they come in tall, petite & plus sizes too!). Below I’m sharing six activewear looks that I’ve put together to keep you warm & looking chic this fall:
ONE: Funnel Neck Jacket // Rust Leggings // Water Bottle // Sneakers
TWO: Crossover Top // Printed Crop Leggings // Water Bottle // Sneakers
THREE: Quilted Jacket // Moto Leggings // Water Bottle // Sneakers
FOUR: Print Padded Jacket // Mesh Detail Leggings // Water Bottle // Sneakers
FIVE: Long Sleeve Top // Mesh Inset Capris // Water Bottle // Sneakers
SIX: Hooded Fleece Jacket // Embossed Leggings // Water Bottle // Sneakers
Even with cold temperatures you continue training. This is an inspiration!

Haha, right?! 🙂
Great post! Where is that green jacket from that your wearing in the top picture?
I found it at Kohl’s last year & the brand is Heat Keep. Here is the version they came out with for this year:

I look horable when I work out! Not stylish and fashionable at all!!
LOL by the end of the workout, I am a hot sweaty mess too!

Cute picks, but I can’t imagine working out in a long sleeved top and definitely not a jacket. I know this is a fall activewear post, but I think most people wear tanks or short sleeves year round for working out.
Thank you for this feedback! I was focusing on long sleeves for those who do outdoor workouts. I actually wear long sleeves in the fall/winter even if I’m going to an indoor exercise class because I get so cold walking from the car to the gym. Totally see your point, though – next time, I’ll be sure to include some short sleeve options!
For me, the most important workout clothing item (after running shoes, which preferably need to be selected in a professional store) is tights, and sports bras in third place. I can wear any top, which remotely resembles a sports top, but the tights should have these things, besides being made of a sweat-wicking material:
1 – drawstring, so that they would not slide;
2 – zip pocket for the key (and some toilet paper – don’t ask =));
3 – reflective elements, because it is still dark in fall/winter when I go out for a run;
4 – optional but a nice bonus – zippers on the bottom of the pant leg for easier getting off/on;
5 – optional but very important in summer – mesh inserts under/behind the knee for the skin to breathe.
I find that a full combination of all of these is quite hard to find. But H&M usually has a couple of options, for example:

I must also add that my previous H&M tights are finishing their second year and are still going strong. I bought an extra pair this year and I find that they’ve become a bit worse (as related to fit and design) but still contain most of the things I want.
Just sayin’. =)
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective! I just ordered my first pair of H&M tights, so I’m happy to hear that yours have held up well!
These are such cute looks. I know that I feel more confident and motivated if my workout outfit is cute. I always seem to find amazing deals on active wear at TJ Maxx.
