I think I will probably never tire of the athleisure trend because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t prefer stretchy leggings & sneakers over jeans & heels? It can be a bit tricky to find styles that walk the fine line between activewear & streetwear, so today I’m sharing two different looks featuring pieces that you can work out in & that will allow you to head to the store afterwards without looking like you came straight from the gym. All of these can be mixed & matched with regular wardrobe items too!
I’ve been wanting one of these fuzzy fleece jackets after seeing them everywhere – but it seemed like every style I tried on made me feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (not really the look I’m going for). This zip-up hoodie is super-soft and cozy but doesn’t have the same bulk to it so it’s much more flattering. You could also layer this over a striped tee & wear with jeans for a cute weekend look. I also recently bought this fleece moto jacket, which is one of my new favorites. If you’re someone who prefers a pullover style, check out this, this or this.
I can’t say enough good things about these sneakers – I bought them in black earlier in the season and when I saw this new color that came out, I had to scoop them up too! The memory foam insole basically makes it feel like you’re walking on clouds – they are by far the most comfortable slip-ons I own (I even prefer them over my Steve Madden pair seen here). I wear them when I take the dog for walks, when we’re headed to my son’s football games & for running errands around town (they come in 14 different colors & run true to size).
What I’m wearing:
c/o Marc New York Teddy Fleece Jacket (comes in 4 colors),
c/o Marc New York Striped Tee (another color option here),
c/o Marc New York Cropped Leggings, Dr. Scholls Slip-On Sneakers
This time of year is perfect vest weather because it’s not cold enough to require a full coat. I love throwing on puffer or quilted vests over my tees, lightweight sweaters & chambray shirts because they add an extra layer of warmth & give some interest to your outfit too. This one is a little pricey, but I love that it’s double-lined, which kept me toasty warm on this cool fall day (check out some more affordable options here & here).
When it comes to leggings, I have pretty much completely converted to high-waisted pairs. It’s so much easier to not have to worry about them slipping down when I’m exercising and I appreciate the way they suck everything in. I picked these up during the Shopbop sale & I was surprised by how much I loved them. I usually stay away from patterned leggings, but the subtle camo print gives these a cool vibe (more colors here & here and an under $20 option here). Other high-waisted leggings I’d recommend: these, these & these.
I get lots of questions about the type of socks I wear with slip-on shoes & sneakers and these are my favorite. They have a rubber lining that helps them stay put and they don’t show at all (also great for low-cut booties, ballet flats & loafers). See more of my budget-friendly athleisure picks below!
