Last weekend it cooled off so much that the heat kicked on in our house…and then a few days later, we were back up into the 80’s. Needless to say, it’s a bit challenging dressing for such drastic shifts in the weather when some days require outerwear and other days it’s all about choosing lightweight pieces in autumn hues that still feel seasonally appropriate. So, for those of you who are experiencing the same, today’s post includes a little bit of both!
I’m excited to be partnering with Lord & Taylor again to announce their biggest sale of the season, where you’ll get up to an extra 30% off apparel + up to an extra 40% off women’s shoes through September 25th (no code needed; discount taken at checkout). This is a great time to stock up on those fall items you’re still needing because you can get them for much less. I shopped their site and put together two easy everyday looks + I’ve created six additional head-to-toe outfits that will work for any occasion!
Growing up in Oregon, I became very accustomed to the rain – from a young age, you quickly learn the importance of having durable, weather-resistant pieces that will protect you from the elements. But, not all rain jackets are made equal – some are waterproof but won’t keep you warm and some are stylish, but don’t hold up in extreme weather.
This jacket is the best of both worlds – a rubberized waterproof finish with a hidden adjustable drawstring on the inside, plus a warm lining (with thumb holes!). I’ll be wearing this all season long on those drizzly days – it will also be the perfect topper to bring along to my son’s weekend football games (along with these glossy rain boots, which will be great for tromping across the muddy field). Here are some more transitional layered looks to try:
This quilted vest layered over this long sleeve tee with these jeans & these ankle boots
This plaid shirt layered under this burgundy cardigan with these faux leather leggings & these velvet flats
This top layered under this plaid wrap with these skinny jeans & these flats
What I’m wearing:
c/o 1 Madison Rain Jacket (also in yellow & navy), c/o Lord & Taylor Striped Top,
c/o Lucky Brand Distressed Skinny Jeans, c/o Sam Edelman Rain Boots (matte option here)
I don’t know why, but I tend to wear florals more in the fall than any other time of year (which is strange because it’s a pattern that is usually associated with spring). I attribute this to the fact that autumn florals incorporate richer color tones and tend to feel a bit more sophisticated than many of the brighter patterns typically seen in the warm weather months. I think it’s essential to have a couple dressier tops like this one that you can pull out for weekend dates or girls’ night out and I love the mix of burgundy, rust & camel, which makes it ideal for the coming season. Here are a few more of my favorite fall floral looks (note – you have to add items to your cart to see the discounted sale price):
This peplum top with these skinny jeans, these knee-high boots & this crossbody bag
This stunning jumpsuit with these heels & this rust-colored bag
This floral dress with these peep-toe booties & these statement earrings
What I’m wearing:
c/o 1.State Floral Off-The-Shoulder Top, c/o Liverpool Skinny Jeans
c/o Steve Madden Heels, Similar Clutch, Similar Earrings & Necklace
