I was lucky enough to grow up in a place that instilled in me a love for the great outdoors. In Oregon, there are incredible views all around you, with the mountains and the beach both being within driving distance. As a family, we were always camping, hiking, taking road trips and exploring new places, which gave me a deep appreciation for all that the Pacific Northwest had to offer. I loved everything about Portland and if you had told me when I was younger that I would end up living in New York, I never would have believed it!
We love going for hikes to discover different areas – on this particular day, we ventured to Lower Falls which is right in the heart of downtown. Because we haven’t had much rain this summer, the water levels were low enough to allow us to walk right out to the edge of the waterfall. I’ve learned that the key to surviving the weather here during the end of the year is with lots of layering. This striped tunic is a closet staple because it’s the perfect length for wearing alone or pairing with a cozy knit on top (it also comes in 2 solid colors). I love the color of this draped poncho – it’s the ideal piece for early fall because it’s lightweight & you can add layers as needed (try a plaid scarf on top or a tissue turtleneck underneath).
