The last 6 months have been one of the craziest & busiest seasons for our family. The kids have gotten involved in so many activities, sports & clubs and my husband & I have also been serving & volunteering more of our time than ever. While these are all good things, I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t taken a toll on our relationship. With our schedules being so full, we’ve often felt like ships passing in the night & we simply haven’t been connecting in the ways we used to. Earlier this week, my husband & I sat down and had a long talk about how things have changed – we’ve always believed that great marriages are a result of being intentional & communicating honestly.
So, we decided to start a new tradition of Friday date nights – although we can’t afford to go out every week, we still want to set aside one evening to focus on “us”. Some weeks, we might cook a meal together at home & put on a movie for the kids in the basement. And some weeks, we might go to our favorite restaurant & take a stroll through the village. Even though we’ve been married for nearly 17 years, we’re still learning how important it is to be purposeful in pursuing one another & carving out dedicated one-on-one time. It’s normal for circumstances to change based on the season of life you’re in, but that doesn’t mean you have to allow those things to pull you apart – you should never stop striving to make your marriage the best it can be.
I like having a few flirty & feminine dresses in my closet that I can slip on for a date night & instantly feel great in. Wrap styles are always a flattering option & I absolutely fell in love with the open back & ruffled details on this one. I also like that the side that wraps under is held in place by a hidden button, so I feel a little more secure/covered as I walk & move around in it. Other styles I’m eyeing include this white lace shift & this floral maxi (gorgeous for a wedding or special event) – see more of my favorites below!
