Thank you so much to those who sent in questions for this month’s Q&A! If you’re not already following along on Instagram, I’ve also started doing them every Sunday night in my stories if you’re interested. As always, you can email me anytime if you’re having a style dilemma or need help finding something. Many of you have requested an updated hair tutorial (with my new short ‘do), so I will be putting something together just as soon as I’m feeling better. Now let’s get to the questions…
1) My husband just took a temporary job assignment 5 hours away from our home, so I’ll be traveling back & forth on the weekends to see him. We have plenty of large pieces of luggage, but I’d like a nylon weekender & large duffel bag that will be roomy enough to hold all my things so I can easily toss them in the car & go. Can you recommend some affordable options?

2) Your nails always look so nice – I’d love to know your tips for keeping them well-manicured at home & what your favorite polish colors are.
I shared a post years ago with my at-home manicure steps (here) and not much as changed since then. I can usually get my polish to last a good 10 days following this routine…though sometimes I get bored with a color & will change it up sooner. I’ve included some of my favorite polishes below with some similar drugstore options because I know I don’t always want to spend $9 on a new color! Let me know if you like this type of comparison & I can do another one featuring fall/winter colors later in the year.
Essie Blanc // China Glaze Cabana Fever
Essie Fiji // Sally Hansen Tickled Pink
Essie Mink Muffs // Sally Hansen Slick Slate
Essie Angora Cardi // Sally Hansen Mauve Over
Essie Sunday Funday // Sally Hansen Peachy Breeze
Essie Lacquered Up // Sinful Colors Red
3) I was recently invited on my first girls’ night out after having my son and I realized that I had nothing “fun” to wear. Can you suggest a few budget-friendly tops & standout shoes that I can pair with skinny jeans for these types of occasions?
I think every woman needs one or two “going out tops” and because these are pieces you probably won’t wear all the time, you don’t need to spend a fortune on them. I also think one pair of wow heels can really complete your outfit! Look for styles with special details like embroidery & embellishments or luxe fabrics like silk, satin & lace. Here are some options I love:
