Layered Fur

Ever since I wore this (faux) fur vest layered over a
blazer (here),
it’s a combination that has been on regular repeat – especially since our
weather is still warm enough to not require a heavy coat (this might be my
favorite winter
yet!). Admittedly, I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail an
embarrassing amount lately (I blame the busyness of the holidays), so I was
happy to find
 this sleek
accessory
to use on days when I’m craving a more
polished look.

What I’m wearing:
Victoria’s Secret blouse (here), c/o Chicnova sweater (here), Forever 21 blazer (here), M.S.S.P. vest (via eBay; similar), Levi’s jeans (on sale here), Zara bag (here), ALDO booties (similar splurge), c/o Christina M. Boutique necklace (here), gifted Etsy ring (here), Target sunnies (similar), Lips: Maybelline Are You Red-dy

I really like this multi-layered look. Is it comfortable to have so many layers on? I'd like to try it, but I tend to feel constricted in layers…

    Hi Lisa,

I don't find it to be constricting at all – mainly because the bottom two layers are very thin and because I didn't button up the blazer. It's warm but doesn't feel like too much!

Ok. I LOVE the layered look, but everytime I try to pair a collared button-up with a sweater, the button-up either shows through the sweater OR I look like a barrel-chested opera singer (which I am not).

Maybe it's just me. But any advice? Of all the looks in the world, this shouldn't be the one I can't pull off.

P.S. You look gorg. And there's nothing wrong with a pony-tail kind of month.

Love this whole look – the layering is just perfection x

  29. PennyPincherFashion says

    December 20, 2012 at 5:24 pm

    Hi Nicole,

There could be a couple of things going on when you tried the layering. Either the shirt you have underneath is too thick or bulky (sometimes this happens with my chambray shirt) and/or the sweater you are putting on top of the shirt is too thin/sheer. In this particular outfit, I went with a very lightweight silk blouse and the sweater is fairly lightweight (though not sheer) too. I hope that helps!

    xo,
    Kimberly

    Annie,

No, they aren't really boyfriend jeans – just skinny jeans that I bought one size too big…my favorite trick so they aren't too baggy-looking! 🙂
