A draped jacket is the perfect layering piece for early fall when it’s not quite cold enough yet to require a more substantial coat. This topper instantly adds polish to whatever you’re wearing underneath (even if it’s just a simple striped top & jeans). I’ve had this trench more years that I can count and I continue to reach for it in both autumn & spring because it’s less structured & more lightweight than my classic cotton version.
I recently splurged on these loafers because the pair I’ve had for the past few years desperately needed to be replaced. I’m learning as I get older that I prefer to save up & invest in comfortable, well-made flats that won’t hurt my feet (I hate getting blisters, so I need a shoe that will give & stretch as I move!). That being said, I know that many of you are looking for affordable non-leather options, so I’ve included some similar styles below.
What I’m wearing:
Dorothy Perkins Trench Coat (similar here, here or here),
Forever 21 Top (similar under $40, under $45, under $50, under $55),
Similar Belt, Joe’s Jeans (similar here or here), TopShop Loafers (also similar here & here),
SWG Saddle Bag (similar here or here), Similar Necklace, Ring & Earrings
Your loafers and trench coat are great ones, def. worth splurging since they’re both such timeless pieces which will always be in trend.

Love this outfit! The colour of the trench is so unique – I can’t tell whether it leans more grey or green. Saving it to Pinterest asap
That coat is wonderful. The striped blouse is a sweetheart! And of course, as always, you look gorgeous with this ripped skinny jeans, one of the items I love most wearing too.

One of the reasons I still find your blog highly readable (when I’ve stopped reading most) is exemplified in these loafers. You mentioned you saved up and splurged on the loafers…. $80 loafers. Where this is a splurge for most people (and you), the blogs I used to read would use the same language about a $450 pair of loafers. Which is totally not relatable for me because I will NEVER spend $450 on shoes! I could pay half my mortgage or buy a pair of shoes. I will pick mortgage every time. Thanks for being realistic for most people’s lives! Keep on keepin’ on!
I so appreciate you saying that, Lauren! I always get nervous about sharing (what I consider to be) more expensive pieces on the blog because I always want to stay true to my PPF name…but there are some investments (like comfortable shoes) that are smart and have an extremely low cost per wear, therefore it’s worth it!
I love this outfit and the color of the trench! Excited that Fall is here! 🙂
Oh my gosh I love this outfit! The layering coat is definitely a closet must have. Finding the right one has always been difficult for me though!
