I am definitely a sucker for military-inspired pieces…I’ve pretty much never met a gold-buttoned double-breasted blazer I didn’t like (see the proof here & here). So when I came across this jacket on the girls clearance rack while shopping for my daughter, I quickly reasoned that I could buy it for her to “grow into” and until then, I would just borrow it on occasion. Needless to say, it’s become a new favorite of mine – let’s just say, I may have a hard time sharing when she’s finally ready to wear it.
Absolutely love that jacket! Skirt is so adorable, too

That bag reminds me of this 3.1 philip lim bag http://www.31philliplim.com/shop/category/womens_accessories/bags#pashli-satchel-21
but without the price tag!
Lovely look. Your daughter has a great style role model! And I love military inspired pieces too, ever since i saw that pic of Madonna and Michael Jackson where he escorted her to an event. LOVE the glitter skirt as well.

I love military jackets too. I think you are doing the right thing – to make sure it doesn't go to waste while you are waiting for your daughter to grow into it.
Love your gold skirt!

Shopping in the kid's section can score you some major deals and cute ones at that! I found a comfy Mickey Mouse sweater in the boy's section and I love it. 🙂
Your coat is so cute and I think I would have a hard time giving it up as well! <3

You look lovely! And I must admit I had a good laugh reading this post. It is just so funny what "excuses" we make to buy certain pieces of clothing. I am looking forward to the time when your daughter comes to claim her coat! 🙂 Have a wonderful Monday! xo, Christina

I need to start shopping the girls' section! I like how you put the sparkly skirt with that military coat too.
More and more I find myself shopping in the kids' section, especially for sweaters and sweatshirts, but the coat is a great idea too. L-O-V-E that gold skirt too. Saw a very similar one at JC Penny last week (Nicole Miller). Now I may have to go back for it. Hmmmm…..
I adore your thought process here, but there is absolutely NO WAY I can make that work. You buy a jacket for your daughter to grow into and wear it, 1) you're ultra sneaky and 2) your daughter's gonna have the best wardrobe in the history of time. I buy a jacket for my puppy to grow into and wear it, and it's a coin toss between social leper and doggy protective services showing up at my door 😉 Love your skirt, too!

I have a military inspired coat that I got from LOFT two years ago that is SO cute. Unfortunately I hate coats. I get so dang hot in them! I think I have worn it 2 times in 2 years. Crazy. Love your coat! You probably need it though. I'm in Louisiana and it doesn't get too cold here…

I am loving the entire outfit! I have never been a fan of gold but this fall all the cute gold accents from buttons to bracelets has won me over! Excellent on matching the boots and handbag.

I can be quite the sucker for military items too. This jacket is amazing – I wouldn't give it to your daughter either if I were you 😉

i love this outfit. i tend to stay away from sparkly clothes because i always worry that it'll look like a party outfit. i like how the coat and sweater kind of subdues the sparkles!
agreed! military style will never get old, and i bet this look will still be chic years from now and i love that! also i love that you shop in the kids section too — i weirdly always find great pieces there — and this jacket was such a score!!

Love that you got this jacket from the kids section! I've done that before and thought I was definitely the only one. Even ventured into the little boys for various items, haha!
