When I first started blogging, I was (maybe overly) focused on multiple layers, creative color mixing and wearing all the accessories at once (who remembers the famous J. Crew bubble necklaces?). As I’ve gotten older, my style has definitely evolved and now I find that the outfits I’m most drawn to are sometimes the simplest combinations. When in doubt, I typically follow the concept of “less is more” and I’ve noticed that the women whose style I admire the most tend to live by the same philosophy.
When it comes to a casual night out, whether it’s with my husband or with a group of girlfriends, my go-to pairing is a silky blouse, denim & heels – simple, comfortable & chic. Florals are always a favorite of mine for the warm weather months, but I’m pretty picky about my prints & tend to prefer smaller scale patterns over the larger bolder styles. This blouse is a recent favorite* that I love because I can wear it in the spring & later in the fall too. The subtle puffed shoulders give it a modern feel and it’s so flattering (recommend sizing down). If it’s still cold where you live, simply swap out the sandals for booties and the denim jacket for a chic neutral coat.
*For those who’ve been following along with my winter shopping freeze, I used a gift card that I had left over from my birthday to purchase this top. Only 3 days left & I can officially shop again!!
