As my daughter nears her teenage years, we’ve had more and more discussions surrounding the appropriate use of technology. We’ve been fairly strict in this area thus far, mainly out of a desire to protect her innocence…but also because we feel strongly about our kids not growing up attached to a screen. I know this will be a challenge in the years to come when she finally gets her own cell phone and begins to engage in social media. But, for now, we are doing our best to encourage outside play, activities with friends and experiences in nature. I really appreciated the insights this article gave about how technology is affecting all of us, not just the younger generation, and how we can make an effort to keep a healthy balance.
I tend to wear less jewelry in the warmer months, but I love the idea of a statement earring with an off-the-shoulder top or simple sundress. I just ordered these sleek drops, which have such a cool modern feel. And, thanks to the neutral tone, they’re a versatile option that look far more luxe than their price tag suggests. Other spring styles I’m loving include these tassel earrings, these lavender drops & this amazonite pair.
My hair has been relatively the same style for well over a year as I’ve been attempting to grow it back out. But lately I’ve become a bit impatient with the process and have been craving some kind of change. I learned the hard way back in 2014 that bangs are not my friend, so I’m currently debating between adding in some more blonde balayage highlights or chopping it into a bob again as I did last April. I’d love to hear your feedback & suggestions!
With sandal season just around the corner, I’ve been taking stock of which styles I own that need to be replaced from years past. I have plenty of heeled options, so I’ve been on the hunt for a few neutral daytime styles that I can wear with shorts & dresses alike. This suede lace-up pair will go with just about everything in my closet + they have a sturdy block heel, which will make them easy for walking around town. I also picked up these flat espadrilles & these huarache sandals (both are supremely comfortable!).
I’ve been on a paleo diet since I was diagnosed with Lupus at the beginning of 2014, which has greatly helped manage my symptoms. For the most part, I’m able to find suitable replacements & recreate healthier versions of old favorite recipes. But, one thing I miss is having the occasional crunchy snack (other than a handful of nuts or raw veggies, it’s hard to come by). So when I saw this recipe for zucchini chips, I was really excited to give them a try – turns out, there are dozens of different ways you can season them (see here & here) and they provide that satisfying crunch that I’ve been craving.
This lustrous hair oil has quickly become a holy grail product for me. What I love about it is its versatility – you can use it as a leave-in treatment on wet hair right out of the shower or after you’ve dried & styled your hair to tame flyaways & add shine. It has a nice lightweight feel so it doesn’t weigh down strands like other oils I’ve tried. Because my hair is short & somewhat fine, I only use two pumps worth per application. And while the price is admittedly steep, it should last a while based on how little I need to use + it’s worth it to have found something that makes my hair so shiny and manageable.
