Now that it’s August, I’m bringing an end to my summer shopping freeze so I can get my closet ready for the new season. But, so many of you loved the fitting room try-on post that I did last month (here), so I’ve decided to continue them throughout the fall. Let me know what store you would like to see next and I’ll feature the one that gets the most votes!
For this edition, I visited my local Old Navy & browsed through their new arrivals to bring you my favorite styles. I didn’t feature a lot of dresses here, mainly because I’m 5’8″ and I find a lot of their options to be too short on me. However, if there is a dress I’m interested in, I always order online in a tall size & those tend to work better for my height. Most of their clothing is available in tall & petite online, so if something doesn’t work for you in store, be sure to remember that. They are offering 30% off your online order today only (no code needed), so it’s a great time to shop & save!!
Chambray Tencel Shirt Dress (also in grey & blush)
This was the one dress I did try because it looked & felt so good! I’m a big fan of anything Tencel because it’s so soft, lightweight & comfortable. There is a fabric belt that comes with this (I tied it behind my back for this photo) but you can easily remove it. This would be great for wearing now or layered under a cardigan with a scarf & booties for fall.
Square Neck Jumpsuit (also in olive green)
I couldn’t get over how flattering this jumpsuit was – I love the cropped length, which gives this a modern feel. I’d add a long pendant necklace to add some interest to this – you could wear it with flat slide sandals or heels for evening. This runs true to size & it has adjustable straps + smocking in the back to ensure a perfect fit.
Herringbone Jacket + Sports Bra + Colorblock Leggings
I was so happy to see they brought this activewear jacket back because it sold out before I could snag it last year. It has the coolest herringbone pattern + thumb holes (which I love). If you’ve never tried Old Navy’s compression leggings before, order these & thank me later! I own an embarrassing number of the high-rise pairs because they fit better than any other brand I’ve tried and they hold up so well for the price. I’m wearing my usual size in the regular length – if you’re under 5’7″, you might want to order these in petite because they could be too long otherwise.
Moto Jacket + Striped Tank + Crop Flare Jeans
I’ve heard from so many of you that you bought & loved this jacket and I can see why! It comes in 9 different colors and feels so luxe. It has a slightly boxy fit, so I would recommend sizing down unless you plan on layering sweaters underneath. This luxe tank is a great layering basic & comes in 7 solids and a black/white stripe – these have such a nice drape to them, but you will want to size down one so the armholes aren’t too big.
Smocked Printed Blouse + Crop Flare Jeans
The color, fit & print of this top makes it so perfect for fall – it’s a looser fit so I would size down (it also comes in a white print here). These jeans were by far my favorite that I tried on – I think I like them better than traditional skinnies! These are a fairly lightweight denim & they have a good amount of stretch to them. But, these don’t come in petite sizing, so if you’re under 5’5″, the length might be a bit tricky.
Boho Tassel Blouse + Distressed Skinny Jeans
This blouse has such pretty details and I loved the mustard color (though it also comes in black & burgundy). As with most of their tops, I recommend sizing down in this one. These skinny jeans reminded me so much of my favorite Rockstar denim from 4 years ago – the fit is so good and I like that they have a higher rise (recommend sticking with your usual size).
Fringe Cardigan + Chambray Shirt + Button-Front Jeans
This is a great lightweight cardigan that you can wear both now + later – love the fringe detail and the longer length (this also comes in navy – runs true to size). If you need a classic chambray shirt, this is a good affordable option – I went up a size because I like mine to have a relaxed fit. One thing to note: there is some slight fading on the front, which isn’t visible in the online photo.
Camo Field Jacket + Striped Tee + Crop Flare Jeans
If you missed out on the camo utility jacket from the Nordstrom sale, this is a comparable option – it has a boxier fit, so I would size down. If camo isn’t your thing, this also comes in 7 different solid colors (and in tall & petite sizes too!). I love it layered over this cute striped tee (which comes in 5 different colorways) – I knotted it at the waist to add some interest, but you could just do a front tuck with it too.
Striped Cardigan + Ribbed Tank + High-Rise Jeans
This was my favorite cardigan in the whole store – it also comes in an oatmeal/white stripe and the fit was really flattering. It is pretty lightweight & it also looks cute unbuttoned. I layered it over a fitted tank (love the burgundy hue) and paired with these high-rise frayed hem jeans (recommend sizing down).
Striped Sweater + Chambray Shirt + Button-Front Jeans
This pullover sweater is under $30 & it also comes in a blue/white stripe and three solid colors. I recommend sizing up if you plan to layer under it as I did here. I styled it with these button-front jeans, which were another instant favorite of mine. These have a high-rise and they’re more of a faded black, which I like – I found these to run true to size.
