Pieces of Paris

I’m excited to be sharing another location-based post today focusing on some of my favorite Parisian-inspired places where I live.  For the first spot, we hopped across the border into Canada (which is just over an hour-long drive) to a beautiful and quaint little village.  Niagara-on-the-Lake is full of charm – we’ve visited many times before, but we were happy to discover that it’s even prettier in the autumn.  Though its historical background is more British, there are pieces of Paris to be found all over the village.

We went to explore for the day a couple weekends ago when the weather was mild & had so much fun walking around as a family and grabbing a few macarons at the local bakery.  My kids always love seeing the horse-drawn carriages stationed in front of this historic hotel that will take you for a ride up & down Main Street.  I paired this pink cable-knit sweater with this checkered full skirt, which has a great fit thanks to the elastic waistband in back. I love the fun flirty shape & because it’s a thicker material, I’ll be able to wear it all season long (dressed down with tights & boots or dressed up with pumps for church).  I’d also style this sweater with jeans, a printed scarf & coat in the winter – though I have it tucked in here, I appreciate that it’s a longer length, which works well for my tall frame (and it comes in 5 other colors).

Another Parisian-inspired spot, much closer to our home, is a French restaurant on one of my favorite streets near the city.  Roux is a great place for brunch, lunch or dinner and their menu features a delicious mix of local & organic selections.  They are also wonderful to accommodate my restricted diet & food sensitivities with care.  With the kids both in school, my husband & I popped in for brunch a few weeks ago and enjoyed a mid-day date, which we don’t do often enough considering we both work from home.

I can’t say enough good things about this turtleneck poncho sweater – it is so cozy and warm & is perfect for layering over t-shirts, turtlenecks & button-downs.  Plus, it has a nice oversized shape so I can feel free to indulge without worry!  These stretchy skinny jeans fit more like jeggings and have a higher waist that helps “hold you in”, which makes them both comfortable & flattering!  (Note: I recommend sizing down for the sweater & buying your usual size in the denim.)

What I’m wearing:

c/o Maison Jules Skinny Jeans (wearing size 4), Similar Boots (spend or splurge),

Thank you to Maison Jules for kindly sponsoring this post.
All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
