Thank you to Walmart for kindly sponsoring the post.
All opinions are 100% honest & all items were hand-selected by me.
As cliché as it sounds, fall is my absolute favorite season – not just because of the cooler weather & changing leaves, but because I love to layer. Mixing different colors, textures & patterns is so fun – it really challenges my styling abilities & allows me to get creative! Obviously, it’s a bit too warm in most places to pile on lots of pieces just yet, so I thought I would share a couple of looks featuring polished light layers that you can actually wear now.
I took some time to browse through the new arrivals at Walmart and was pleasantly surprised – I feel like their selection just keeps getting better & better. I swear, every time I go on their site, it’s like a treasure hunt…and I love it! I’m really excited about the pieces I found this month because they have a high-end feel, but for a fraction of the cost. And, thanks to their free 2-day shipping at $35, you can order a head-to-toe ensemble today & have it in time for the weekend!
I’m always a sucker for a good poncho in the fall & this classic plaid wrap is one you can actually wear now because it’s so lightweight (also love this more substantial ruana). I know a lot of you have mentioned in the past about loving the look of this style of outerwear, but not the practicality of it – because these can tend to shift & need adjusting throughout the day or slip off your shoulders when you’re moving around. So, I wanted to show you a way to style this that helps the wrap stay put + it creates a flattering silhouette by defining your waist! If you’re not a fan of belt bags, you could achieve the same look with a black leather belt too.
I layered it over this mockneck sweater (which has the cutest criss-cross detail in back) and these high-rise jeans (though this pairing would also work well with faux leather pants or ponte black leggings). If you’re looking to try out the sock bootie trend, these are an amazing deal! They come in 3 colors, are so comfortable & under $25 – these only come in whole sizes, so if you’re in between, I recommend sizing up. Here are a few other layered looks I’d wear now:
- This boyfriend blazer over this camisole with these jeans & these plaid flats
- This denim jacket over this white tee with this midi skirt & these sneakers
- This utility jacket over this striped top with these boyfriend jeans & these mules

I was in complete disbelief when I saw the price of this faux suede trench coat so I had to order it to share with you! The fabric is buttery soft with a nice amount of stretch and it looks far more expensive than it is. I would say it’s a mid-weight material – more substantial than a traditional trench, but not as heavy as a wool-blend coat…which makes it perfect for early fall. This also comes in camel & a pretty pumpkin hue – I found it to run true to size (there’s also a shorter version here & a chic matching skirt).
I paired it with neutral wardrobe staples to keep the overall look sophisticated & classic. This is my third pair of Time and Tru skinny jeans – I’m wearing the lighter wash below & you can see the dark wash version on me here. I just can’t get over how great these fit & how flattering they are, especially for under $20! This black pair runs a bit smaller than the blue wash, so I recommend sizing up.
