As much as I wish I could be wearing sleeveless tops & airy spring dresses, the truth is that most days our weather still requires light layers (though we did have one nearly 70 degree day last week that felt downright heavenly!). For those of you who are in the same boat, I thought I would share two layered looks that are great examples of simple ways to dress up your favorite denim. One outfit has a decidedly sophisticated feel and the other is slightly more casual, while still looking polished.
This trench vest is one of my best thrifted finds – I scored it over 4 years ago and it quickly became a staple in my closet. I think it is actually meant to be worn all the way buttoned up (as a dress), but I’ve always layered it over tops & pants. I paired it with this ivory sweater (which has the prettiest scalloped neckline) & these cream colored jeans for a monochrome neutral look.
These snake print mules add just the right amount of texture & interest and they’re the perfect height for walking around in. Right now, Aerosoles is having a great sale – get 20% off 1 pair, 25% off 2 pairs or 30% off 3+ pairs. The discount brings these mules down to $59.99 (price adjusted in cart) – but hurry, today is the last day of the sale!

I love finding outerwear options that are different from my usual denim jacket or utility style. This jacket has all the details of a trench but the cropped length & easy draping make it ideal for dressing up or down. I’ve also worn it over a sleeveless dress & I think it will work really well with shorts once the weather warms up a bit (I just ordered these because they look like the perfect length & I love the waist detail!).
These classic black flats look exactly like the Madewell Frances Loafer ($148) and the Everlane Modern Loafer ($168), but they are under $75 during this sale (and I also found them for even less at Macy’s). I’ve actually tried on both brands and, while they are great quality leather, they don’t even come close to being as comfortable as the Aerosoles. I wish I could adequately describe the cushioning in these, but suffice to say it is better than any other pair of flats I own. They also come in a rich tan leather, which I’m seriously considering ordering too – I know I will get so much wear out of these because they go with everything & the style is truly timeless.
