I am definitely one of those people who dresses for my mood – which means that sometimes my style can feel a bit all over the place. But, I think that’s one of the things I love most about fashion – if I’m craving comfort, I can throw on jeans & a slouchy sweater; if I’m getting ready for a date night, I’ll slip into something feminine and if I need a little mood booster, I’ll put on a bold figure-flattering ensemble.
Today’s post is a perfect example of this because these two looks couldn’t be more opposite…but I love them equally as much and they both somehow feel like “me”. These are pieces from JCPenney‘s new arrivals that are perfect for wearing both now & later in the season. They graciously sent me a gift card to shop their site, so I hand-picked pieces that I knew would get lots of wear in the weeks to come.
When I came across this maxi, I couldn’t believe the price – it looks like something you’d find at Anthropologie, but it’s less than $30! I don’t think I’ve ever worn paisley print in my entire life, but I really loved the color & the feminine silhouette of this dress. The fabric is lightweight & has such a pretty drape to it – plus, anything I can twirl around in is always a winner in my book! I added a vintage leather belt from my closet & paired it with these comfortable block heel sandals to play up the boho vibe. To transition this into fall, I’d layer a suede moto jacket on top & wear with heeled booties to give it a little edge.

My solution for what to wear on those hot August days when you really want to embrace fall colors? A cotton tank, wide leg crops + a dash of leopard. This pairing has a sophisticated feel to it, but it’s every bit as comfortable as a basic tee & denim. I’m a big fan of this burnt orange hue for fall & you know how I feel about the wide leg trend. I’ll wear these pants later on with a cable knit sweater & sock booties – so chic! If you’re looking for a leopard scarf, this one is a great price – I like that it isn’t too chunky and that the background color is white (rather than camel).
