More so than any other time of year, summer gives us the chance to embrace bold colors & splashy prints. In the past, I’ve been hesitant to invest in a lot of patterned pieces (save for stripes & florals) because I wasn’t convinced of their versatility. So, in an effort to prove myself wrong, today I’m teaming up with Zappos to share three summer looks featuring the best printed styles for day, beach & evening. These outfits prove that patterns make a powerful statement & we should all incorporate them into our closets this season.

This tropical print is unlike anything I have in my closet & it makes me instantly feel vacation-ready (even if I’m just having brunch with friends). This is one of those tops that also looks great worn up over the shoulders too, which is a nice option to have. I had such great success with these Levi’s denim shorts that I decided to get another pair in white – and I was thrilled to discover that these fit just as well. I love the longer length and light distressing, which makes them great for dressing up or down. And I know I’ve talked about these wedges before but they really are the most comfortable pair I own and because the base is cork, they’re incredibly lightweight (great for travel because they’ll go with everything & won’t weigh your suitcase down!).

All of the swimsuits I own are solid colored, so I love the idea of having one festive patterned style and gingham is the undisputed “it” print of summer. The larger check & grommet details on this bikini instantly won me over – I tend to prefer options with ties on the sides so I can adjust them for a perfect fit. And, even though I have a smaller bust, I always go up a size when ordering a triangle top to ensure that there’s enough coverage. A swingy tank dress is a summer wardrobe essential and I couldn’t resist this gorgeous blue & white print…especially when I saw the bow detail in back! This dress is such an easy shape to wear & I like that it’s fully lined so you don’t have to worry about wearing a slip underneath (plus it’s on sale!). I paired it with a pretty pastel bag & these metallic block heels for a chic polished feel, but it would work just as well with a straw hat & flat sandals.
